THE Y0UN8 LADIES SEE MANY
THINGS OF INTEREST IN WEST
Prom Tuesday's Daily.
. For the past two weeks or there
abouts. Misses Edna anil Myrtle Pet
erson have been in the "west, seeing
the sights, which are well worth
while. After leaving here they stop
ped at Sterling, Colorado, where they
visited :;t the home of Miss Edna's
sister, Mrs. Ed Spies, spending a few
days there. After this, they pro
ceeded to Denver, the Queen of the
Koeky Mountains, and indeed it ir. a
Queen of a city, located as it is, five
thousand feet above sea level. From
its streets one'ean look out over a
vast plain, which helps feed the na
tions, and turning to another direc
tion can see in the same vision the
snow covered mountains with their
rocks glittering in the sun, covering
a wealth of minerals, such as few
other localities contain, either in
quantities or varieties. From Denver,
alter visiting with friends and see
ing the town in all its varied chang
ing hues, they departed for Colo
ratio City, Colorado Sppinps and Man
itau. In these places nature has en
deavored to even outdo herself in
the wonder she has created and
which are revealed in the rocks, the
mountains, the rallies and the can
yons that lie between the peaks, re
flecting the colors of the rainbow as
no painted can paint them.
Here where nature heaped up its
gigantic mass of rocks and earth, in
order that (Jeneral Pike, might years
later discorer it to civilization and
have the grandeur of its dome nam
ed after him. the girls spent much
time, and 'when the frost was on the
pumpkin." they climbed to the top.
from which vantage point they could
look over the surrounding moun
tains as far as the eye could reach,
and see in the distance to t lie cast
rolling prairie extending for nearly
a hundred miles, vhile mountain
peak alter mountain peak greeted
their vision for more than that dis
tance in every other direction. Truly
a. wonderful sight. Here the rision
is fine as the air is wonderfully clear
and to look out over the prairie and
see a farm containing one hundred
and sixty acres, looks like an onion
bed in the garden, as viewed from
the top of one of our buildings back
here." The two ladies climbed to the
very top of Pike's Peak, a fpat which
few achieve, although many try, only
to give up in dispair and seek the as
sistance of the "cog" line.
The young ladies reached Omaha
on their return trip Sunday evening,
and were brought to Plattsmoiith in
the 'car, Mr. Charles Peterson, Jr.,
going up after them.
