J. A. and F. T. Wilson, known to
the people o this community as the
Wilson Brothers, started to Omaha
Tuesday morning in F. T.'s Ford car,
where they had some hoyrs and cattle
on the market that day. The trusty
old Ford skimmed over the ground in
fine style and was clipping off mile
after mile in line time, until they
came to the concrete crossint near
the Dent Livingston farm. Here the

badly jammed up, and was taken to
Plattsmouth for repairs. The boys
telephoned to Plattsmouth for an
other auto, and they arrived in the
county seat in ample time to take the

city, were on the market with their
stock and returned home in the evening.
The following is a short biograph
ical sketch of the late Mrs. Emma Jo
sephine LinviHe, one of the highly
esteemed ladies of the county, whose
death has caused a most profound re
gret throughout the community:

bytorial Sabbath School convention,
to be held in Omaha June 18. They
will also attend the jubilee convention
of the State Sabbath School asso
ciation which is to meet in Omaha
June 10, and continue its sessions un-
yjl the 21st. Any others of this school
who can be, at either of these conven
tions is authorized to enroll as dele
gates.
On Monday evening last a very
pleasing entertainment was- given at
the Lewiston school in district No. 7,
cast of Murray, by the pupils of the
school, assisted by the teacher, Miss
Mabel Donat, who has just closed a
very successful term of school in that
district. The entertainment was given
for the benefit of the patrons of the
school and was quite largely attended
by the residents of that locality. The
program was one of more than usual
merit and consisted of a number of
musical selections by the young people
of the school, which were most tle
lightful in every way, while a num
ber of leadings and recitations by the
different scholars proved an enter
taining feature of the evening's en
tertainment. The program was quite
extensive and consumed a greater
part of the evening, but at the close
a most delightful ice cream and cake
social was held that was most thor
oughly enjoyed by the scholars and
the patrons of the district who were
in attendance at the pleasant event. To
add to the enjoyment of the occasion
the Victrola furnished a number of
selections that were thoroughly ap
preciated. The young people of the
school are deserving of much credit
credit for the splendid manner in
which the program was carried out.
Miss Donat, the teacher, is also well
pleased over the successful outcome
of the event.

The local committee, consisting of
C. A. Rawls, E. II. Wescott and II. A.
Schneider, who are endeavoring to
raise Cas county's apportionment of
$1,2."0 to the Y. M. C. A. war fund,
re-jcived an encouraging communica
tion from the MothoJist church at Nc
hawka this morning. Mr. B. Wolph
of Nehawka and the pastor of the
church presented the matter last Sun
day, and mot with the generous re
sponse of .";'50, which will be a big
help at this time. This is an example
worthy of emulation in every town in
the country. The committee wishes to
say that the response from Platts
mouth and vicinity has n:,t yet met
the emergency and that every person
who received one of the circular let
ters, is urged to meet immediate re
ply as the case is urgent and most
woithy cf the mort prompt action.
