tric current in their places of busi
ness and houses were greatly incon
venienced Saturday night -when the
electric current was cut off shortly
after 1 o'clock and remained olf un
til late yesterday afternoon, when it
was once more pfaced in service. One
of the larire transformers at the

out during the evening, causing the
delay and putting the lights out of
commission all over the city and just
at a time when thev were needed the
most. This is the second time in two
weeks that the current has been shut

it is very annoying to the patrons of

Last Thursday evening during the
heavy shower of rain and the elec
trical storm a team of mules was
killed. John Parriott who lives on
the Henry Claap farm, formerly oc
cupied by Al Ncwlin, ar.d Ids man
were in the head at work when tac
storm came up. They immediately
started for the house. Mr. Parriott
was driving a four horse team of
mules, lie was going up along a
wire fence when there was a sud
den sliarn bolt of lightning. Throe
of the mules were knocked down, on
ly one of thorn surviving the shock,
the other two being killed. Mr. Par
riott was stunned but shortly over
come the shock. It was .some exper
ience and while Mr. Parriott lo.t a
fine and valuable team of mules he
had a very nariow escape from death
in a miraculous way.
During this particular storm of
Thursday evening the lightning was
very much in evidence and many had
remarked that this, was the most
lightning that they had seen in a

C. E. Haney and wife departed this
afternoon for Glenwood, where they
will spend a few hours in that city
visiting and looking after a few mat
