Noble and three sons 01 Canton, O., arrived in the city for a few hours' visit while on an automobile tour of the west. Mrs. Noble was formerly Miss Carrie Greusel. a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E S. Greu.-el. who were for a number of Years residents of this city, and where Mr. Greusel served as head of the Iiurlinirton shop:: and later, was transferred to Havelock, where they made their home unt'l the death of the father. Mrs- Noble spent several hours here and was much pleased with the apparent improve ment in the city since her resilience here, almost twenty-five years a;o. MURRAY, NEBRASKA Wednesday morning, getting mile.-: north of Plattsmouth their auto was put out of commission by the cy linders sticking for the want of oil. The car was left in Plattsmouth, Omar took the train for Omaha and Frank returned home. Uncle Sam Latta and son James, 3Irs. W. S. Smith and Mrs. J. W. Holmes departed Wednesday after noon for Lincoln to attend the Ep worth Assembly. They will remain in the capitol city a couple of days. 3Iis.s Neva Latta will accompany them Ihome for a few days' visit with Mur ray friends and relatives. There was a very exciting ball game pulled off here last Sunday afternoon, between the Half Sox and No Sox teams,-and after the smoke of battle had cleared away the score stood 8 to 4 in favor of the No Sox. Umpire Holmes escaped without injury, al though some of the close decisions, and in some instances he was compelled to tell the base runners just where the ball was "put on them." This announcement was made today at the headquarters here of the tlemo ciatic national committee. Judge Lindsey is a former republican. lie was a delegate to the lepublican canvcntii-n at Chicago in 191 "J, and. left that con cent ion with the ether dtb-gatos, supporters of Theodore Rtiibcvi'1!, who fe-iiu-d the progres sive party Judge Lind.-ov. today, sent the ful- lowing telegram to President Wilson at Washington: "For many years a member of the national child labor committee, fav oring a federal child labor bill abol ishing child slavery, and as a recent member of the national executive committee of the progressive party, I wish heartily to congratulate you on the passage of the Keating Child labor bill. "Your splendid attitude on this question ant! willingness to change from your former position with the state-rights democrats to federal or nation control- when it becomes clearly apparent that it is the best method to put an end to certain eils and ad vance certain rights, should be suf ficient proof of wavering progressives that the democratic party is as willing as the republican party, in proper cases, to put the national welfare above state considerations.
