We hope for Mr. White's j sake as well as for his customers' that there will be a rood crop of ice this year. Capt. Wiles has caucht forty bush els of grasshoppers this season. In two trenches he caught seven bush els, from a timothy patch nine, and on wheat five bushels in two days. We think his machine the most prac ticable and feasable of any we have heard of. Had all the Captain's neighbors done as well no damap-e would have occurred to crops any where about him. A letter from Mr. Emery Hull to hi.; father, states that he was acci dently shot on the 23rd of August, near the Bikr Horn mountains. Mr. Hull was standing- on the off side of the front wheel, holding it while the help held the hind wheel, and hrew Ids title carelessly across the load; horses rested. A comrade came up to th.e hammer caught on a dry g-oods Lox and was discharged, the ball tak-in.e- effect in Mr. Hull's groin. The ball remained in his person, he was taken back to Fort Reno, and at the writing- of the letter lay there, wait ing for a surgeon to cut it out. They do some old fashioned stag-ing from Sidney to Cheyenne yet; and the driver becomes one of the great folks of the road. Mr. Alex Schlepel speaks of two drivers characters in their way Geo. Chapman who drives from Deadwood twelve miles this side of Rapid City, and McClellan wro drives from there to Buffalo City as two of the best drivers on the route. We well remember when the driver was gladly looked forward to, as an old friend, and we counted the stages by the drivers we knew on the old long lines across the west years ago. Mr. Schlegel came home sick and the two persons above mentioned did everything- they could to make his journed bearable. SUFFERS A SEVERE BURN.
