Last evening Warren Kh:er, the son
of Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Riser, residing
south of this city, met with a very
herious accident at the farm of his
biother-in-law, Troy Wiles, in Mount

unknown he fell from the horse and
his left foot caught in the harness
and the horse dragged him quite a
distance along the road before his
foot was released from the harness
and the young man was thrown to
one side of the road, lying there until
sometime later when another of the
men on the farm came across him
and summoned help to remove, him to
the house. Dr. G. H. Gilmore was
called from Murray and examined the

Struggle for These
Positions.
London, July 1!. The Germans

their most successful counter-attack
since the great allied offensive began.
The recapture of the village of Lon

highways seven miles south of Bapa-

claimed in an official statement issu

afternoon .
An official report from General
Haig admitted the Germans had ob

skirts of Longueval and had recap

The Germans attacked in large
force after dusk last night, deliver
ing their most powerful blows against
Longueval village, which occupies an
important strategic position at the
intersection of two highways.
The battle continued throughout the
night with the greatest violence. The
Germans brought up fresh troops and
attacked repeatedly. xne urnrsn
counter-attacked successfully at sev
eral points.
Fighting Continues.
General Haig reported that the
struggle for the positions continues
with great violence.
