Panska. died Sunday afternoon in her

eral occurred Tuesday afternoon from
the German Methodist church, con
ducted by the pastor. Mrs. Panska
was t.ne of the early settlers of the
community and will be missed by

the Missouri Pacific in point of serv
ice is stationed at Crete, Neb., he haw
ing been there for the past thirty-five
years.
Vance H. Harris, who is employed
in a dairy near Fort Dodge, Iowa,
came home for a A'isit with his family
the latter part of the week. He ex
pects to locate there permanently in
the near future.
Miss Hattie Rieke, who Avas taken
to a hospital in Omaha last week, is
doing fairly well. Mr. Rieke and two
children went up on the afternoon
train Wednesday to see how she was
petting along.
Mrs. Staunton's new brick building
is nearly completed. It Avill be ready
for occupancy about the first of No
vember. A restaurant will lie estab
lished in the lower floor and the upper
floor will be used for a rooming house.
It is understood that the Keystone
Cement company of this place, of
which Mr. W. 15. Banning is the head,
is looking for another location. Union
should Avake up and see if it is not
possible to keep this company here.
We have nothing to lose and should

Thursday morninp for a A'isit with his
brother, L. A. and family.
William Atchison received a couple
of carloads of sheep Thursday from
the Omaha yards. They presented
quite a sight as they were driven out
to his farm.
A fine baby daughter was born to
Mr. and Mrs. George Kunz Tuesday
morning. Mother and babe are doing
fine, but "dad" somebody must look
after him.
Mrs. G. R. EA-eland arrived last Fri
day from Miamivi'le. Ohio, for a
three weeks' A'isit to her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Gustin.

Rhone has disposed of his skating

Mr. and Mrs. John Morford spient

porter by Mrs. Parminter.
The finding of the lifeless body of
John H. Hall by children of the Elm
wood schools last Friday afternoon
Avhen Miss Hill and her kindergarten
pupils were out picnicir.g, and the at
tending revelations as to the manner
and cause of death, came as a most
sorrowful surprise to the many friends
of that good man and worthy citizen.
