From Wednesday's Pally. Frank Mailer, who resides on the old Norris farm, a few miles south west of Murray, on the road to Ne hawka, seems to have been the victim of a most malicious act on the part of someone. Mr. Marler has just recent ly purchased a new gasoline engine to operate a threshing outfit, and this engine was left in the field of Mr. Marler only a short distance from the house on Monday evening, and when he visited the engine Tuesday morning was greatly surprised to find that it had been damaged by some one during the night and parts of the engine were out and demolished in a manner that clearly pointed to a dirty attempt to inconvenience this gentle man in his work of threshing. All the connection on the engine had been cut and the brass fixtures cut an.l slashed, while the spark plug had been taken out and had either been carried off or thrown away, as there was no sign of it anywhere, and a large pump oil can was also miss ing from where it had been left. This sort of destruction was very much of a surprise to the owner and after an investigation of the engine he came to this city and notified Sheriff C. D Quinton of the affair, and as much of the damage as he was. able to ascertain. The act has not only caused dam r.ge to Mr. Mailer's engine, but has also put him behind in his work of threshing for himself, as well as his neighbors, and as the few opportuni ties to operate the thresher are very valuable he feels the effect very keen ly, and a very strong effort will be made to locate the party or parties committing the act of vandalism, and if they are located they will be pun ished to the fullest extent of the law, as there was clearly a spirit of mali ciousness shown by whoever was re sponsible, and evidently with a view of causing trouble for Mr. Marler. Rex Young, the Murray Auction eer, is over in Iowa this week attend ing a number of cattle sales being held in that locality. Rex did not intend to buy cattle, as this is not his line at the present, but his line is that of auctioneering, and he accepted a spec ial invitation from the auctioneer in charge of the sales, who has almost a national reputation in the ring, to be pi-esent on these occasions. Rex is in no way contrary to the average am bitious young man who has entered a chosen profession, and is desirious of gaining all the knowledge he can along this line, and could not afford to pass this opportunity up, one that will erive him a great deal of information in the sale ring. Rex is in the busi ness for success in the fullest sense of the term, and from the present rate that he is climbing, he will soon rank with the best. Success to him is the wish of the Journal. Puis & Gansemer, Murray, 0 Nebraska The Place to Buy Lumber. There never was a season so favor able for building and making im provements around your farm home as this one has been, and the activity around the Murray lumber yard is an evidence of this fact. More of all grades of lumber is being sold this spring than for many seasons. The demand for good goods and the fact that it can always be found at this lumber yard at the right prices are the causes for the increased business. Mr. Kikendall is after the lumber business of this locality, not only from the fact that it is due him, but be cause he is ready and willing: to meet all competition on the numerous grades of lumber.
