William Gilmore and family moved from the Mast farm to tin Nick Davis place, a half mile west of Murray, Tuesday. Iceiug for the past week has been a fail willi this community. The Murray Dam company sup plied ice to ten houses, an air gregale of 185 tons. Warren Pird, A. I. Pird and Walter llardnock went to Union Neb., to attend the funeral of their uncle, Lewis Pird. who passed away at a ripe old ape Henry Pecker and Guy Pecker of Oklahoma were visitors in Murray Wednesday. Henry, who had his arm injured in a saw mill a month ago, is abel to re sume work again. Mrs. Lee Allison is suffering with n severe attack of pneu monia. A trained nurse from Omaha was called to attend her Sunday. Mrs. Allison, passed away this morning at t o'clock. The Library association will give their entertainment at the Chriswisser school house Satur day, February 17. A complete program will appear in next week's Journal. Orion Virgin has moved to town and occupies the property he recently purchased of Walter Green. The latter has moved to the house west of the creamery property. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Porter are rejoicing over the arrival of a new baby at their home on last Friday. Our informant, did not tell us whether it was a boy or a girl and we didn't think to ask. Whether boy or girl makes but little difference to John it will find a warm reception at the porter home. T. F. Jameson of Weeping Water, father of Mrs. J. F. Bren del, came over Saturday and re mained over Sunday. The Lewiston Glee club has postponed the oyster supper which was to have been given, at the Lewiston church Saturday j evening, February :M, owing loi sickness in the community. Notices are up calling for a meeting of the voters of district No. 50 for the consideration and voting upon bonds for a High school at Murray. This meeting will take place at the school house on Tuesday, February 25. William Rice was a Plaits- mouth visitor Tuesday of this week, and while here called at ttie Journal ollice and ordered the paper sent to his daughter, Mrs. Lucille Penedicf, of Tipton, Wyoming, where Mr. and Mrs. Penediet are residing and doing well. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Holmes entertained Saturday evening for Mr. ami Mrs. W. C. Prown. The game of the evening was "pit," which caused a large amount of merriment. Another pleasing feature was the refreshments, which consisted of three, courses. It was a most enjoyable evening. A card from Good Todd and family, who are spending their winter at West. Lee Allison, one of tin most highly respected ladies in that locality, who, after suffering for the past two weeks from pneu monia, was finally relieved from her suffering and called to her final reward. Mrs. Allison had resided in this county for many years, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wiley, pioneer ettlers of the county, and only two weeks ago the aged mother Uncle George Cook went to of Mrs. Allison passed away, and Lincoln Tuesdav and got himself the death of the mother greatly some new togs to wear. Ed Casey went to South Omaha Monday to visit his parents, Mi ami Mrs. John Casey. The ice men are busv these days putting up ice, for which we are very thankful. Mr. and Mrs. John McDowell are visiting with Mrs. McDowell'- parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Jor dan. George Bauman of Bentz, Kas., a nephew of David Stetler, came in Tuesday lo be with his uncle during his sickness. Mr. and Mrs. William Brown, sr.. gave a family dinner Tues day. All the members of the family were present. Mrs. Stenner was for merly Miss Marie Berger, and xxas reared to womanhood in this community, and was -considered one of the most charming young ladies in Cass county. The ladies of the Christian church have just finished scrub bing the Uoors of the church and putting down nexv carpets. Were it not for the ladies (God bless them!) our churches would not present such a cleanly appear ance. But on this occasion xxe must give credit to Lloyd Gapen, Warrent Wiley and Bert Young, for they carried the water to do the scrubbing. May God bless them I Lucius D. Mullen, one of the pioneers of this part of the coun ty, died at the home of his son, John Mullen, at KI Campo, Texas, February 1 J. of paralysis. He was stricken February 8. He was 70 years and 8 days old. He served in the civil war. He is .sur vived by four children: John of El Campo, Texas, Lafe D., Orpha and Jesse of Alvo. . The body will be brought to Alvo and will be laid to rest in the Alvo cemetery Thursday. The family have the sympathy of this communicly Lucius will be' missed by us all. John and Mrs. Warren Wiley.
