The crime for which he was charged was committed in September, when Parrish sold a horse that had been mortgaged by him, to Mrs. Mary Davis, - of near Union, to Jas. P. The ladies who were present spent several hours most delightfully in the making of dainty articles of needlework and in.' the enjoyment of several much appreciated musical, num bers given by Misses Verna Cole and Claire Dovey: on the piano and Miss Mathilde Vallery and Mrs. R. Glen Rawls vocallyvall of which were very pleasing and proved a most delightful feature of the afternoon's pleasures. At an appropriate hour' a most de licious and tempting two-course luncheon was served by the hos tess, assisted - by : Miss -Mable Vhite, Miss Jessie Robertson and Mrs. R. Glen Rawls, and the dining room wasa scene of much beauty' with an artistic arrange ment of the color scheme of yel low being carried out in the table decorations.'- Yellow place cards were used, as well as a profusion of yellow jonquils, in the decora tions of the tables, where the dainty luncheon was served, and candles with yellow shades cast a soft and pleasing glow over the room. Prom Tuesday's Daily. ' Tom Svobodr;, who is employed as lineman by the Nebraska Lighting company, yesterday aft ernoon about 3" o'clock, met with quife-n painful accident while eii-, gaged in his work. He, in com pany with several other linemen", were putting in a transformer on the line of the company just back of the Journal building and Tom had come down from the pole to secure a brace to use in the work, and just as he reached the ground another of the workmen on the pole, in some manner jarred a large iron brace off of the pole, and it fell a distance of fifteen feet, striking Tom on the head and inflicting ,a very painful wound, - which required four stitches to close,. and it will be several days before he is able to be up and areiund at his duties. . -Never can tell; when you'll mash a finger or suffer a cut, bruise, burn or scald. From Tuesday's Dallv. Yesteray in Justice M. Archer's court, the case of the Oeult Ad- ertising Company vs. the Uank of Commerce of I.owUville wa brought up for trial. This ca-e was brought to collect sin I, which the plaintiff claimed was due on a contract for advertising cuts and service which they claim ed the defendant had entered in to with them. The defendant bank, through its 'resident, Mr. T. E. Panned, showed that the agent of the plaintiff came t Louisville and attempted to in terest Mr. Parmele in the pro position, but that he had de clined to accept the offer to buy service and started to drive off in his automobile when the at:ent for lhe company went info th bank and told the cashier that Mr. Parmele had said for him t sign the contract. When the cut arrived later they were sent bac and the company started suit The court found for the defend ant and the advertising company will nave to stand tne costs in the case. Mr. Parmele and th bank were represented in the ca by Rawls it Robertson of this city and the firm is fcelinc well pleas ed over the outcome of the cast which clearly showed that the agent for the eompanv had at tempted to put one over on th bank. Mr. Clark, who is care taker at the A. O. U. W. hall, wa working around- the interior of the building and had occasion to set a chair on the hot air regis ter, and when he mounted the chair in order to reach up on the wall, the chair slipped and Mr. Clark was thrown to the floor, bruising him up consilerably, but le was able to resume his work, but after several days, not get ting any better, he decided to rest up and treat the injuries.
