ERNMENT BUILDING COM
PELLED TO SUSPEND WORK
From Monday's laily.
The force of men employed in
driving the piling for the coffer
dam that is being built around
the government building here,
yesterday started in on their work
as usual and ran until about 11
o'clock, when Chief of Police Ben
Hainey appeared on the scene and
requested them to desist from
their labors, as Mayor Sat tier did
not consider it fitting that the
pile driver be working here on
one of the principal streets of
the city and just opposite St
Paul s church, where the wor
shippers had gathered, but were
unable to hear the words of the
minister on account of the
pounding of the machinery. This
is a very commendable thing for
the city to do, as the operation of
this machinery on Sunday ha
been very annoying to the gen
eral public, as well as the church
troers, and H is time that it was
stopped.

and was suddenly awakened by
the arrival of a large number of
his neighbors, some of whom
shook his eyes open and remind
ed him of the fact that it was the
20-lh anniversary of his wedding.
He appreciated the joke .and as
sured the visitors that -they were
welcome to all the hospitality to
be found! The guests spent some
time in the usual social manner,
and at 9:30 "Jim and Mary" were
called upon to again appear at
the bridal altar, where they were

WEEPING WATER OLD
SOLDIER IS BAD SHAPE
From Tue.3aVn tJaflv.
This mornincr Wesley S. Walk
er, an old soldier, residing at
Weeping Water, was in the city
consulting the county judge in
regard to securing admission to
one of the Soldiers' Homes. Mr.
Walker is well advanced in years
and possesses a small residence
property in Weeping Water and
has a pension of -SG a month
from the government, but finds it
impossible to gel along very well,
as he is not in the best of health
ami needs the care of someone,
and feels that he could secure
this better at the-Soldiers' Home
than elsewhere. It was decided
to have him turned over to T. T.
Fry, who will look after him un
til he can secure a place in one
of the Soldiers' Homes. He had
a severe fall a short time ago and
since that time has hardly been
able to be around and feels that
it is necessary that he be situated
where he he can be looked after.

the company- at an appropriate
hour, which was done ample
justice to by the company. - The
guests then enjoyed themselves
for several hours in arious
amusements,, ami at a late hour
departed for thejr homes, feeling
that the occasion was one long to
be remembered by all present.
The Mumni home was b"autifully
