Mr. and Mrs. John Hobscheidl were spending the day Thursday with county seat friends and trading with the Plattsmouth merchant s. Rev. Dunkieherger spoke to a good-sized audience both morning and evening at the Christian church Sunday, notwithstanding the disagreeable weather. C. M. Baker went to Plattsmouth Wed nesday evening to attend the big meeting of I he Modern Woodmen, returning" on the midnight train. The carpenters are al work on the new home of Uncle George Shrader. and they hope with favorable weather to have it ready for occupancy in as short a time as possible. The new concrete culverts east and west of Murray are just, the proper thing, and while they cost the taxpayers a great deal, in the long run they are much cheaper than the wooden ones, and a great deal safer. Mrs. Ollie Kirkpalrirk of No hawka spoke to about fifteen women on the subject of "Equal Suffrage" Saturday afternoon. A suffrage organization was or ganized and the referendum peti tion is being circulated. Miss Etta Nickels, accompanied by her father, William Nickels, returned from Omaha, where Mr. Nickels underwent au operation on his eyes recently at the Methodist hospital. It seems Mr. Nickels is greatly benefited by the operation, and we trust the eye sight will be greatly improved. Our Murray department is a lit tle short on local matter this week on account of the imposibility of our regular reporter being unable to be there, as usual. We will see that this does not occur again. The boys at the depot say that business al this point is going- to far exceed that of la.-t year at this time. Mr. and Mrs. William Rice are in receipt of a letter from their daughter, Mrs. George Benedict, written at Salt Lake City, Utah, where Mr. and Mrs. Benedict were spending- a few days during their vacation trip. They were taking a little journey through the west ern cities. Mr. and Mrs. Benedict are now located al Tipton, Wyom ing, where Mr. Benedict has a good position with the Union Pa cific Railroad company as night operator. Tue.-day evening, October i'S, will be the regular business and social meeting of the Library as sociation at the library rooms. Tiie program hour will be taken up with a paper by Pauline Old ham on the York and Omaha meetings. The subject will be. "Why Myrray Was Aske.l on the Program at York," and a report on both meetings. All members and those interested in the library are invited to attend. Business hour at S o'clock.
