Fox treasurer of the county of Cass, in
the state of Nebraska, will on the first
Monday, beins the 3rd day of Novem
ber. 1913. as required by . Jaw, com
mence selling at the office of the coun
tv Treasurer Of said countv in
the city of Plattsmouth, at public auc
tion, so much of the following tracts
of lands and town lots as shall be
necessary to pay the taxes, together
with interests and costs that may have
accrued thereon on that day. being the
delinquent taxes for the year 1912 and
prior years as appears from the tax
lists of said years.
tfaid sale will be held between the
hours of nine o'clock a. m. and four
o'clock d. m. of said date, and continue
from day to day between said hours
until all said property, upon which de
linquent taxes remain unpaid, shall be
sold or onered lor eaie.

THE STREETS TO WORK
Our neighboring city of Ne
braska City has instituted a
movement that it would be well
for this city to follow, and that
is. of working all tramps, ags
and beggers who are gathered iu
by the police on the streets of tho
city. Plattsmouth b'in situated
on the main lines of both lhi
Burlington and Missouri Pacific,
is being constantly visited by
these, characters, who come iu
here and afford no end of trouble
to the police, as well as the
citizens, and if they were com
pelled to labor on the streets to
put them in better shape it would
be a mighty good thing for the
town in getting the street work
carried on, but would soon dis
courage the visits of these un
desirable parties to this city. The
plan has been tried in many other
places, and very successfully, and
it would be a good idea to start
the movement here whenever any
of these kind nf. people, drift into
town. In Nebraska City a num
ber of the local lalent has also
felt the heavy hand of the law
and have been put to work on the
municipal rock pile. While this
city has no rock pile, a dose of
working on the streets would
prove equally as good in secur
ing (he same results, that f
either leaving the city or going to
work and not being a public,
nuisance.
Lee Cotner Injured at the Shops.

This morning while !, Coiner
was engaged at his duties at, tlm
Burlington shops he met with a
very painful accident (hat will
cause him to take an enforced
lay-off from his duties for several
days. He was descending from si
car upon which he was working
and in some manner bis oeralN
caught on the car and when he
attempted to extricate himself
from the position his hand
slipped off the car and be fell
lo the ground, a distance of sev
eral feet, alighting on his back
and with the result that he sus
tained a very severe strain or
bruise to his back that made it
necessary for him lo seek the ser
vices to a physician to reliexe.
