SIfe TERM OF BELLEVUE COLLEGE The summer school of Bellevue college, under the direction of Iiean William T. Nicholl of the teachers' college and normal school, is in progress, with an in creased attendance. The open ing address was delivered by Dr. Alexander Corkey on tho subject of "Thought Control." Dr. C. A. Mitchell will deliver a course of lectures on the "Social Aspects of Teacher Training." The school closes on August 8. Dr. Stephen Phelps, pastor of the village church, and Professor of bible and ethics in tho college, has been granted a vacation for the entire summer, and with his family has gone to the Pacific coast to he gone until the opening of the college in September. Rev. Charles K. Baskerville, M. A., vice president of tho college, is prosecuting the financial work during the summer, lie is meet ing with encouragement among tho churches of the state and hopes to complete the $30,000 fund for current support by tho open ing of the college year. As soon as this fund has been completed it is the purpose of the collego to push the endowment campaign for a new fund of $250,000. Professor S. J. Cross of the chair of history and economics has charge of his old church field at Missouri Valley, Iowa, for tho summer. He is also looking after the student canvass in western Iowa and northeastern Nebraska. He reports excellent prospects for an enlarged student body next ear. Rev. Frank Throw of Oltumwa, Iowa, has been selected to have charge of the department of physical training for the coming year. He is an alumnus of the college and is one of the best athletes the college ever present ed. He has been especially suc cessful among the young people of the churches he has served and has kept in touch with athletics.
