Many traveling men slop there now and are well pleased wilh lhe surroundings. Kvery thing is neat and clean and you never hear of anyone mil gelling enough to cat. Mrs. Merger is one of the best, cooks in Cass county and her table is al ways supplied with the best Hie market affords. A few days ago Dave Falun's i liltle '.'-year-old boy, while play ing around the barn, got, kicked by one of the horses and, among other injuries, was a broken arm. For a while while the child was in a serious condition ami it was thought the lillle fellow could not possibly survive. At last ac counts he was gelling along as well as could be expected under ic circumstances. In Honor of Fifteenth Birthday. A very pleasant party was given Saturday, June 7, at the home of Morris Mailey in Murray in honor of his lifleenlh birthday anniver sary. A number of his friends gathered at an early hour and proceeded to have one of the times of their lives, (ianies and music were the chief features of the evening, and at an early hour, a most tempting luncheon was served, consisting of ice cream and cake and lemonade. After an evening of much enjoyment the guests departed, wishing Morris many more such happy birthdays. (n writing up the death of Mrs. f). S. Draper, mother of Mrs. J. W. Jenkins, the Journal made several grave mistakes. In the first place, Mrs. Draper was liv ing with her son in Kansas City, and not making her home with her daughter. She had come up from Kansas City to spend Decoration day ami visit a short time, when she was taken ill and died al the home of her daughter, .Mrs. .1. v . .1 K ins. who lives in Murray, trom wliose dome tde re mains were taken to the church and from there to the place of in terment. The deceased lady lived in Cass county for many years and was wei! known lo many of the pioneer families oT the coun ty . She was a good mother, a faithful wife and her good deeds in lib will be remembered by those who knew her so well, long after the body of this noble lady .has returned to clay. Last Sunday afternoon a large number of friends gathered at Mrs.i Kmuia March's home in honor of her son's, Mr. Earl Lan caster's, 27th birthday. The aft ernoon was spent in games and music, the music, being furnished by Messrs. Jarves Lancaster and Virgil Arnold. John Kpping sang a number of songs, which were enjoyed very much. There were twenty-three guests present. The dining room was beautifully dec orated in roses, that being Karl's favorite (lower. Promptly al 3 o'clock all were called to the din ing room to partake of a de licious three-course luncheon, to which all declared it was the best ever. Those assisting the hostess in serving were: Mesdames Min nie Lancaster, Clara Arnold and Mary I'.ppings. Mr. Lancaster was the recipient of a number of useful and valuable presents. At a late hour all departed for their homes, wishing Mr. Lancaster many more such happy birthdays. One Who Was There. Tornado Insurance. Bnedeker. In Honor of Her Quest. Mrs. A. L. Baker entertained last Thursday afternoon in honor of her sister-in-law, Mrs. II, E. Sinilh, of Kldora, Iowa, who was her guest for the, week. The aft ernoon was most enjoyahly whiled away in various amuse ments and social conversation, and it is needless to say that all present were highly delighted with the manner in which Mrs. Baker entertained them. At the proper hour a dainty lunch wa9 served, which all pronounced superb, and when the hour for parting arrived all expressed themselves as highly pleased with the social tune enjoyed. At the home of Mr, and Mrs, Otto Puis, seven miles west of Murray, there was given a very pleasant afternoon parly to a number of friends and relatives Tuesday of Ibis week. At the close of the evening' refresh ments, consisting of ice cream and numerous kinds of delicious cake, were served. Mrs. Puis was assisted in serving by her sister, Miss Mary West. The rooms were beautifully decorated with roses ami carnations. Following were those present: Misses Liz zie Kaslel, Mary West, Rosa Sliafer, Maltie Urish, Lena Phil pot. A large crowd gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Puis Sunday to help celebrate the former's birthday anniversary. A surprise party was given Sat urday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John I'rish in honor of llieir daughter. Main's, birthday anniversary. This community was greatly surprised last Wednesday to hear of the marriage of Mr. George Kngelkeineier and Miss Mary Al berts, but we wish them a joyful and happy wedded life. Sweet Potatoe Plants.
