Pitman has bought one of those line J. I. Case automobiles, which will no doubt prove n great pleasure to Sam, as well as very profitable in his work. The car will he shipped direct from the factory and is expected to arrive in a few days. The handsome new residence of Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Mrendel is pro gressing very nicely under the workmanship of the boss car penter, W. W. Hamilton, and staff of workmen. This will be one of the nicest and most modern homes in Murray. ' Mrs. James Loughridge spent a few days in Omaha the past week visiting at the borne of Mr. Loughridge's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Dr. W. K. Loughridge. Her daughter, May, was in the city Tuesday to receive treatment for her eyes, Dot li returning home Wednesday morning. Frank Oorton and Park Chris weisscr, the automobile men. from Plattsmouth, accompanied by Jesse McVey, were in this locality with the auto Tuesday evening and were caught in the heavy rain storm at the homo of George Lloyd. He reports crop prospects not very good in Hall county. The rain Tuesday was very hard in this vicinity, doing a great deal of damage to fences and washing out conisderable corn. Mrs. James Allison, who is building a line new home in the county seal, has decided to make her home in Murray for the sum mer, with Mrs. W. K. Dull. Mrs. Hanker, sister of Mrs. Dull, will depart for her home in Youngs town, Ohio, On Saturday of this week. Her brother, Charles Rutherford, of Omaha, and daughters will go east, with her to spend their summer vacation. Mrs. II. L. Oldham and (laugh ter, miss rauiine, entertained u few friends last Friday in honor of Mrs. Cuzza Haker of Adair, Iowa. At the same time they as sisted Miss Fay Oldham in cele brating her birthday. Miss Ida Hoedeker returned home from I he St. Joseph's hos pital in Omaha Tuesday morning and is rapidly recovering from her recent illness ami surgical operation. Mrs. James Hatchet I, who has been in the hospital at Omaha for the past few weeks, returned home last Saturday and is im proving from her recent illness and operation. Mrs. A. L. Haker and daughter, Opha, were Omaha and Plalls niouth visilors Tuesday, also Wednesday morning, which trip is made daily to see the doctor and receive treatment for an ear I rouble. William Puis, sr., celebrated his (7th birthday last Sunday. There was tjuite a large number of friends and relatives present to assist this excellent old gentle man in celebration the event. There were plenty of good things to eat for all present. Mrs. Charles Carroll has de cided to cease keeping boarders for the present, and all those who have been enjoying the many good things to eat nt her table luring the past few months have lakn up boarding -quarters at the home of Mrs. Jenkins. Murray was visited by one of the heaviest rain storms in many years last Tuesday evening. The xact amount of water falling seems lo vary somewhat, some laiming as much as four inches, others two and one-half inches. all fell within an hour. The "Old Maids Convention will be given Saturday night, June 22, at Jenkins' hall. The .adies' Aid society of the Chris- lian church is giving the play, am the proceeds are for the benefit of the church. Everybody try am attend. Admission, 25c and 35c Murray lias ror many years held her own as a marketing point, or rather, shipping point in all kinds of live slock, and this week the first shipment of high- grade cats were shipped out. This shipment was made by Kelly Ilhoden, when a car consignment was placed in the care of the Mis souri Pacific railway. We have been informed that Sam Pitman has been compelled to go to Nebraskn City for the manufacture of his new lighting system on account of not being able to find suitable building quarters in Murray. There was not an available building in Mur ray to be had and no one seemed to want lo erect one for him, thus the change was made necessary. This enterprise will no doubt grow to the employment of several men and would have been a great help had it been kept in Murray nr. and Mrs. i n. i tit t were visiting at the home of the Ial ter's brother and sister, Julius Piti nnd sister, south of Platts mouth, last Sunday. There will be another line new residenee property erected in Murray this summer, and that is the one of O. A. Davis, the con crete blocks for the foundation having already arrived, and Ihe work of erection will soon be in progress. The new structure will be built in the Pitman addition and just north of the Hue D. J. Pilman home. The Olterhein church was given quite a treat last Wednesday, when a number of the neighbor ing members and friends of the ingregalion assembled at the church for the purpose of devot ing and donating sutllcienl time o replace the old shingle roof with a new one. They did a good work that was greatly appreciated by all Ihe members. The Childrens day exercises given at the Christian church last Sunday evening, were very largely attended and one of the finest programs ever given on a simialr occasion ever held in Murray was rendered. The numbers were numerous, and while all were good in every particular, the sing ing of little Miss Madeline Dooley is deserving of special mention. The manner in which this little lady handled the solos certainly shows great training and wonder ful ability and were very pleasing numbers to the audience. The entire program was in charge of Mrs. J. T. Hrendel, who deserves a great deal of credit for the ex cellent manner in which the pro gram was presented. 'I here is a young man living in this part of the country that has demonstrated a great deal more of lire good roads spirit than most of Ihe men who have use for and are traveling Ihe roads every day. That young man is Morris Lloyd, Ihe young son of our ex cellent farmer friend, John Lloyd, near whose farm lays about three-auarters of a mile of mighty good road, made so by- Morris with a drag thai the young man made himself and used his own team for the work. Such work is indeed very commendable and greatly appreciated , more especially when a young man the age of Morris takes such active work in the good roads move ment.
