TWO FENTECOSTAl BLESSINGS SAYS PASTOR RUSSELL Yh Later Pentecost Will Be for the World in General It Will Come Through Messiah's Kingdom Operat 1 Ing Through Israel Restored to Di vine Favor It Will Be Earth's Jubi lee of a Thousand Years of Blessed Uplifting and restitution to All the '. Willing and Obedient of Adam's Re- teemed Raoe The First Pentecost . Brought Blessings Merely to the Church and Has Nearly Completed Its Intended Work. Ilrooklyn, N. Y, June 4. Pastor Russell continues to draw the lar gest audiences of any preacher lu the world to bin oral addresses, be sides the millions who weekly read the printed reports of bis discourses to the newspapers of the English peaking world. Today's audience at tbe Brooklyn Academy of Music was estimated at twenty-six hundred. Of these about two hundred, all men, were u the platform behind tbe speaker. Late comers fulled altogether to gain Admittance to the afternoon service, ffhe text was appropriate for Whitsun day, It being tit Peter's explanation f the Pentecostal blessing "This Is tliat which was spoken by the mouth f the Prophet Joel" II, 10-18). Tbe speaker called attention to the fact that the Prophet Joel mentioned two distinct oiitiKHirlngs of the Holy Bplrlt. One of these, upon the servants nd handmaidens of the Lord, found Its fultllim-iit at Pentecost; and during the more than eighteen centuries since, Clod's spiritual blessing has been not only with the Apostles, but with all the footstep followers Of Jesus all of Clod's servunts and handmaidens. If We see this feature of the prophecy fulfilled, It becomes a guarantee to be lievers that the remainder of tbe same prophecy will have fulfilment In God's tne time. The remainder of the proph ecy declares that afterward-after these lays In which the Holy Bplrlt has been outpoured upon the Church, upon the "servants and handmaidens" will tome (Jod's time for pouring out Ills Spirit upon all flinh. St. Peter's statement. "This Is that which was Kken by the mouth of the Prophet Joel," Pastor Russell said hould not be taken to mean that what was witnessed In the upper room n the Day of Pentecost nearly nine teen centuries ago, completely fulfilled tbe Prophet Joel's predictions. None, fee said, would dispute that the ful Clment of Joel's prophecy began at Pentecost, with the early Church, and has been In process of fulfilment dur ing all the centuries since. It Is as true today ns It was then, that the blessing of tho Holy Spirit Is granted to all of Clod's servants and hand maidens. And the remainder of the prophecy will as surely be fulfilled with eojiaraccuracy In duo time. After these days of the Uospel Afr'e after these days of the outpouring of the Spirit upon (Jod's servants and handmaidens will come the glorious epoch of Messiah's Kingdom, In and through which C-od will pour out upon the world of mankind n great blessing of enlightenment and uplift from tho Kin and death conditions now prevail ing. It will be to tho accomplishment of this end that Kutnn shall bo bound for n thousand years, and the dark ness, which now covers tho earth" and the gross darkness which now blinds the heathen, will bo chased away by the glorious "Sun of Righteousness with healing In His beams." Thus Will bo Inaugurated the glorious Day cf Messiah, a thousand years long. Thus the knowledge of tho glory of the Lord will All the whole earth. Thus every tongue shall be brought to confess and every knee to bow to Messiah as the great Representative of Jehovah and Ills righteousness. Abraham's Spiritual Ssed First, Abraham of old typified Jehovah, nd Isaac typified Messiah, bora not after tho flesh, but after tho Spirit by a special llvlne Interposition accord ing to God's promise. Of this antl typical Isaac class, Jesus Is the Head, the Forerunner of the Church, as well s the world's Redeemer. The Nody of Messiah Is composed of a solntly few, Recording to the Scriptures, gath ered, primarily, from the Jews, but being completed by additions from ev ery nation, people, kindred and tongue. These all, the Apostle tells us, will be character-copies of God's dear Son, our Redeemer and ITead. This, the Apowtlo declares, Is Dlvlno predestina tion (Romans vlll, 20. SOI. This Church class, or Messiah class. Is variously referred to In tho prophe cies, as well rs In the New Testa ment, as the "brethren" of Jesus, and s "sons of God." Of them the Proph et David writes, "I have said, ye are gods, all of you sons of the Highest; but ye shall all die like men and fall like one of the Princes" (Psalm Ixxxll, 0, 7). These all die like men In the estimation of the world, be cause, as the Apostlo declares, the world knoweth them not even as It knew not their Master. As the world did uot recognize that the life of Je sus was laid down sacrlflclally. nei ther Is It aware that the followers of Jesus, a little handful, down through the Ago, have likewise through Ills merit presented their bodies living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. Abraham's Natural Seed Next. This Spiritual Seed of Abraham, all olntly. will constitute tho Church of the First Borns, th antitype of the Priests and Levltes it the Jewish Dis pensation. With the completion of this Church, gathered out of all na tions, sects and denominations, Divine favor will return uguln to the natural seed of Abraham. As tbe Jew was granted the first privilege or opportu nity of becoming the Spiritual Seed of Abraham, he will likewise have the first opportunity to participate in the blessing which then will come to the whole world of mankind. "To the Jew first" Is the Divine order in re spect to both of these blessings. To this agree the words of the Apostle raul. After telling of the Divine election of tlui Church, the saintly few of both Jews and Gentiles, the Apostle adds, "I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant concerning this Mystery, that blindness, in part only, not perpetual, has happened unto Israel." When the full, "elect." Spir itual Seed shall have' been gathered, shall have been completed from amongst the Gentiles, - then all Nat ural Israel shall be saved from their blindness and outcast condition (Ro mans 11). St. Paul points out that as Israel's stumbling was directly foretold through the Prophet ("Let their table become a trap and a snare" Psalm Ixlx, 22), so also, God through the prophets has foretold their blessing later on that they would be the first to be blessed under tho glorious Spir itual Messiah of many Members. Thus It Is written, "There shall come out of Zlon the Deliverer and He shall turn away ungodliness from Ja cob." Here, pictorinlly, Zlon Is a mother and her Offspring Is the Mes siah. Looking again at the type, we see that Abraham represented Jeho vah and that Saruh, his wife, repre sented tho great Covenant through which Messiah would be developed. "In thy Seed shall all the families of the eurth be blessed" (Genesis xxll, 17, 18). "If ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's Seed, ffnd heirs according to the promise" (Galntlans 111, 10. 29). It has required more than eighteen centuries to give birth to this great Deliverer. JeRiis, the Head, was the "First-Born from the dead;" and the Church, His Members, since devel oped, will 1k Ills brethren, sharers in Ills rule on the Heavenly plane. For Is He not declared to be "the First Born among many brethren?" The First or Chief Resurrection will bring all these Sons of God to the plane of glory, honor and immortality boru from the deud; then the great Deliv erer will be fully, completely born and ready to begin Ills great work of blessing nil the nations Israel being the first of these. "My Spirit Upon All Fleeh." St Peter declares that it was the glorified Jesus who received of the Fa ther, and poured out upon the Church at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit That blessing came to tbe Church because of their coming Into harmony with the Father's arrangement through tho Son. The receiving of the Spirit there marked the recipients as sons of God. The later Pentecostal blessing upon tho world will have points of similar ity as well as points of difference. Tho blessing will como through tho great Messiah and as a result of tho satisfaction He will make for tho sins of tho whole world, by applying to the race the merits of His sacrifice by which He will seal tho New Law Cove nant with Israel; nnd then, with the world through Israel (Jeremiah xxxl. 01). The great Messiah of glory will be the Mediator of thut New Covenant, and the foundation of that Covenant will bo "the better sacrifices" offered by this Mediator, as the Antitypical High Priest (Hebrews lx. 11) 23). The Pentecostal blessing then to come upon tho world will uot bo uion the terms of their sacrificing their earthly rights to attalu heavenly bless ing and spiritual sonshlp; ou the con trary. Its requirements will be a con secration of .obedience to the Divine Law; and its reward will bo earthly Restitution to the perfection of human nature, and to tho enjoyment of all the blessings originally given to Adam and forfeited by his dlsoliedlenee. All coming under that blessing will ex perience the uplifting and restoring to all that was lost In Adam. "They shall build houses and Inhabit them. They shall plunt vineyards and eat the fruit thereof, and long enjoy the work of their hands" (Isaiah Ixv, 21). This Is tho Divine promise, applicable, to them and not applicable to the Spiritual Seed of Abraham, the Church, the Kingdom class, who must all be chnnged, because "flesh and blood can not Inherit the Kingdom of God." As Jacob was a son of Abraham, not dlrevtly. but through Isaac, so also those blessed under Messiah's reign will be children of God, not directly, but through the Messiah. Directly, they will be the children of Messiah. Thus It Is written of Messiah. "He shall he called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty One. the Prince of Peace and the Everlasting Father the Father or Llfeglver to the restored world of mankind. The llfo which He laid down In sacrifice, namely, the earthly life, Is the one which Ho will give to all the willing nnd oliedlent of Adam's race during Ills Messianic Kingdom to be theirs forever. It Is In this sense that He will be the Kverlnstlng Father-the Father giving everlasting life, which father Adam failed to give. Messiah Himself will hnve no need for the earthly life which he laid down, tr eatise the Heavenly Father has given nitn. ns a reward for Ills obedience, the higher life-Hie dlvlno noture. The Fathers to Bs Princss. Firm of old Ahrnhnm, Isaac. Jacob, David, etc., were called the fathers, not only because of their relationship to the Jewish nation, but tnrtlculnrtv tu- rause MesRlah was to come as theh offspring "the Seed of Abraham," "of the stem of Jesse," "The Offspring of David;" and so Jesus was liorn of this very lineage. But His exaltation by the Father to the spirit plane, and the fact that It was His earthly rights which He laid down In sacrifice, which are to go to Adam nnd all of his race who will accept tho same ou the Di vine terms, puts Jesus In the position of Father or Llfe glver "to the world, and to Abraham, David, etc., as well. They must all obtain their everlasting life through Him, and hence will be Ills children. Thus the I'ropbet David wrote of the future, "Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make Princes In all the earth" (Psalm xlv, 10). Those fathers who are to be Trluces are already de clared to be pleasing to God. They at tested their loyalty to Hlra by a faith which worked In harmony with. His will through the limitations of fallen nature. Tho Fathers to Get "a Better Resur rection." On account of this they are already declared to lie worthy of a "better res urrection" thau the remainder of man kindbut not so glorious a resurrection as will be granted to the Church. Their resurrection will be to the perfection of human nature mental, moral and phys ical. Thus they will stand before man kind as samples of human perfection, to which standard, by obedience, all of tho race may attain, if they will, dur ing the thousand years of Messiah's reign and Kingdom. Those Ancient Worthies (Hebrews xi), will not only be illustrations of hu man perfection, but they wll. be mnde "Princes" or rulers In all the eurth. They will be the outward and visible representatives of the invisible Mes siah and the Agents through whom the Word of the Ixrd will go forth; as It Is written, "The Law shall go forth from Mt. Zlon (the Spiritual Kingdom), and the Word of the Lord from Jeru salem" the earthly manifestation of the Kingdom amongst men. Pastor Itussell gave an extraordinary Interpretation to a heretofore hnrd-to-be-understood portion of Joel's proph ecy: "Tour young men In that New Dispensation will see with clear vision what your Ancients dreamed of and re lated in parables." This vision of glory, the Pastor declared, would be the Reign of Righteousness and the Pen tecostal blessing accompanying It, upon the willing and obedient, every one of whom would be brought to clear knowledge and full opportunity for sal vation. Order of the Blessing. Tho order of the blessing is stated. It will come upon all flesh after those days, but upon the servants and hand maidens in those days. The days men tioned evidently refer to this Gospel Ago from Pentecost to the second coming of Christ. " Io this period, of now nearly nine teen centuries, God's Holy Spirit has been granted to His faithful ones, and to these alone. Ouly tho fully conse crated have been accepted of the Lord as living sacrifices, and only such hnve been begotten of the Holy Spirit, that they may be "new creatures In Christ." During all this time, the world has been unrecognized bo far as the Holy Spirit Is concerned. Indi'od. tho Apostle after Pentecost went still further and declared that "the wholo world lleth In the Wicked One." The only action of tho Holy Spirit must be, as In the cose of Felix, to "reprove the world of sin and right eousness, und of a coming Judgment." Ourvtext declares, however, that the time is coining when tho world will re ceive a share of the great Divine bless ing, which was fully assured by the death of Christ. But its time of favor will bo "after those days"-after this Gospel Age shall have come to an end; after the New Dispensation shall have begun. To the Jew First. Only Jews received the Pentecostal blessing. The Gentiles were excluded for three and a bnlf years thereafter, in harmony with a Dlvlue promise mado to the Jewish nation. Then came the time for a similar privilege to be extended to the Gentiles. I rejoice with you today, fellow-students of the Word of God. thnt this great gift of God Is still obtainable, that tho time baa not yet fully come when the door of opportunity to this high-calling must close. Close tt will, so soon as the full number of the "elect" shall be completed. Thank God that another door will then open; tho door of Kextitutfan to humau per fection and to earthly life, grand be yond the power of description. Then God's Holy Spirit-holy power will, through Christ, be outpoured upon all flesh upon all mankind. Messiah will luaugurate the New Dispensation by sealing with Israel the New Cove nant lu His blood; as says the Lord through the Apostle Paul, "This is my Covenant with them when I shall take away their sins. As concerning the Gospel they are enemies for your sakes. but as touching tho election, they are beloved fix the fathers' sake" (Romans xi. 27, 28i. This utpourlng of the Holy Spirit Is not merely for Israel, nor God's blessing merely upon Abraham's nat ural seed outside the Church class. It will Include all of every nation desir ous of coming Into accord with God, after they shall have come to a clear kuowledge of the Truth. All nations shall be privileged to enter Into and enjoy Israel's great Covenant, by be coming children of Abraham through faith. And nil rejectors of God's grace having been destroyed lu tho Sivond Death, the world of mankind will con stitute the promised "seed of Abra ham." whose numlKT shall be as the "sands of tio seashore." even ns the Spirit begotten ones of this Gospel Age are likened to "the stars of heaveu." 0 0 lira The Best Patterns have ever shown.
