THE HOME OF SATISFACTION
Mr. C. W. Nix Leaves for Home.
Mr. C. W. Nix of Elheridge,
Tennessee, who has been in the
vicinity straightening up the
business of his son, Thomas II.,
who died near Murray some weeks
ago, left for his home yesterday
afternoon. Mr. Nix speaks very
highly of the M. Y. A. fraternal
insurance order, in which his son
carried a policy in his father's
favor. Mr. Nix, the beneficiary,
was treated most courteously by
the officers of the order and re
ceived the face of the policy very
soon after the death of his son,
and stated to the Journal that too
much praise could not be given
the company for the business
manner in which it pays its
claims.
Lightning Does Damage.
Mr. John Meisinger, jr., drove
in from the farm yesterday to
visit his father before the latter
departed for Pekin, Illinois, ami
reported heavy rains in his
vicinity Tuesday afternoon. The
electrical storm was quite severe
also. The lightning struck three
large cottonwood trees near his
premises, doing considerable
damage to them. The bolt fell so I
near that Mr. Meisinger and his
family were quite severely shock
ed, although in the house. There
was some hail, but it did no dam
age in his neighborhood. A few
miles south the neighbors inform
ed Mr. Meisinger that the hail
stones were as large as hen's
eggs and very numerous.
Mr. Adam Hild and wife were
Omaha passengers on the morn
ing train today.
