James Patterson and family ar rlvey In the city last evening on the flyer for an extended visit of several weeks with relatives In the city and vicinity. Mr. Patterson is cashier of one of the big banks of San Bern ardino nnd has been taking an active Interest In the business affairs of that thriving California city, lie Is a great enthusiast over bis home city and state and believes none other compares .With It. He certainly has retained much of the youth which he passed In this locality and today be looks very little older than he did when he played ball upon the lots here many years ago. He has changed so little that all his friends and they are liglon here have remarked upon the remarkable fact. San Bernardino where he Is located Is a thriving and prosperous city which has felt the effects of the wild-spread prosperity of the country and which has been growing by leaps and bounds. It is one of the main cen ters of the Santa Fe railroad through that country and has large shops in tnat city. There are several former Plattsmouth boys employed In the shops there, Oliver D. Mr. Patterson goes into raptures when he speaks of the big show and has a very entertaining story to tell of the week.. Mr. Pat terson recently took part in a base ball game in San Bernardino, playing with a visiting team against the professional home team and he says that it came Just as natural as it did thirty years ago. He insists that he has not gone back by any means and he surely looks as if he hadn't. His many friends will be glad to meet him and enjoy visits and talks of olden days.
