mall train to Omaha. When they ar
rived at the county seat they found

A meeting of the citizens was call
ed Tuesday night for the purpose of

best citizens of eastern Cass county
and one with a host of friends In
this city and vicinity. The Journal
always appreciates his visits and
hopes they w ill be many and often.
Miss Cleo Applegate of Union, who
has been chosen as a teacher In the
public schools c,f this city for the
coming year, is In the city today
visiting the public schools. Miss An
plegate is oue of the best possible
selections to have been made by the
board and comes to the schools with
a reputation as an educntor already
established, she having several years
experience In teaching. Miss Apple
gate Is the handsome and accomplish
ed daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee
Applegate, the prominent people of
the vicinity of Union.
A. J. McNatt, one of the best
citizens of Kenosha and chief of
police cf that city under Mayor
Brown, was also a caller at the Journal
office and added his name to the
daily list yesterday. Mr. McNatt is'
a friend cf the Journal who Is al
ways welcome and he seldom fails to
visit the city but what be finds time
to drop in and see the publisher of
this great paper. His visits are al
ways welcome, too. Mr. McNatt 13
