DISASTROUS FIRE
AT MURDOCH
Store Building ot John Leis Burned
Tuesday Night Fully Insured
The store building owned by John
Leis of Murdock was totally consumed
by fire Tuesday evening, and it re
quired heroic work by all the citizens,
and the fire department to prevent the
spread of the fire to the adjacent build
ings. . The glass in the windows of
Langhorst & Rughe's store and the
bank building were broken by the fire.
The building was occupied for a pool
hall and restaurant, both of which were
consumed, and also the household goods
of the family living in the upper story
of the building. W. E. Rosencrans,
who was at Elmwood, could plainly se
the blaze and was at Murdock to visit
the ruins yesterday.

A VERY PRETTY
APRIL WEDDING
Mr. Walter J. Schneider and
Miss Marie Blotzer Uni
ted in Marriage
With the home of the grooms father,
J. J. Schneider, decorated almost as
lavishly as nature in her profussion,
gives the leaves to the trees, the blos
soms and foilage to all nature and the
grasses to the fields, was the prepara
tion made for the celebrating of the
wedding of his son, Walter J. Schnei
der, and Miss Marie Blotzer. There
was a busy, happy hum of occupation
by everyone around the household of
Mr. Schneider all the morning, and at
highnoon, when the crowds had assem
bled and all was in readiness, nothing
seemed wanting, for every minutia had
been attended to and all the appoint
ments were complete, when the wed
ding prosession entered the parlor,
where an arch of the choicest of flow
ers and vines had been consturcted
under which the bride, Miss Marie
Blotzer, leaning upon the arm of the
groom, Walter J. Schneider, halted,
and followed by Harry Meisinger the
best man, and Miss Hattie Blotzer the
bride'smaid, before Judge A. J. Bee
son. With but a second's pause the judge,
with his kindly face lighting up with a
pleasant smile, bade the young people
join their right hands, and with the
completion of the ceremony which uni
ted the lives of two of our most estima
ble young people, bestowed upon them
his blessing.
After congratulations, which were
given by almost one hundred guests
present, they sat down to a sumptions
dinner, where was spread everything
To this repast all did their best and the
supplies had been so well looked after
that there seemed as much when they
had finished as when they had bgan.
During the afternoon games and
social conversation were indulged in
viewing of the numerous presents, and
the day's festivities woundup with a
dance in the evening. The newly mar
ried pair will make their home on the
farm of the groom's father where they
will be at home to their friends after
May first,
750,000 Dead.
A medical journal stated, that while
during the civil war 210,000 men fell in
battle, we are losing now every four
years over 750,000 persons from tuber
culosis alone. Considering that this is
a preventable disease we are at a loss
to understand why our people are so
negligent. Newspapers often called the
attention of their readers to the fact that
consumption can be avoided, or cured in
the start, by maintaining the digestive
organs in full strenght. The disease
can invade only weakened systems. We
again advise all readers to take as soon
as their appetite will decline, and with
it their usual strength, Triner's Ameri
can Elixir of Bitter Wine, the natural
tonic and blood (purifier) builder. It
acts directly on the stomach and intes
tines, giving them full digestive strength
and so making new, pure blood. It will
make you vigorous and able to with
stand many attacks of disease. At drug
stores. Joseph Triner, 616-622 So. Ash

Republican Committee Scared.
A dispatch from Lincoln, under data
of yesterday says : "Grave and import
ant political secrets were discussed at
the meeting of the executive committee
of the republican state central com
mittee tonight. The confab was held at
the Lindell hotel headquarters and only
members of the committee were ad
mitted.
"Organization was the theme of the
discussion. Incidentally it was decided
to inform the main committee as diplo
matically as possible that the campaign
this fall would be a bruising fight rather
than a festive frolic. Rumors that the
headquarters would be moved to Omaha
were denied. However, these stories
were persistent. 'Scared at your
shadow. ' was the retort a member of
the committee made to an anxious Lan
casterite. 'Not on your life, ' retorted
the partisan. 'Down here we are
scared about the landslide to Bryan."
