NOT MARRIED AS REPORTED Though the Friends Had Much Sport With the Young Folks Concerned Col. C. W. Bessey of Omaha, while quietly pursuing his every day activities was yesterday apprised by a neatly written letter coming to his desk, couched in the most endearing terms, and in a delicate feminine hand, telling of a wadding of a young lady friend, which the letter said was to occur last evening and bidding him be present. He hastened with his tasks to get here and when the Burlington flyer rolled in to the station here off stepped the Colonel. A number of the young lady's friends were, at the station to receive him, and while the letter was a josh and there was no wedding, they showed the Colonel a good time. Mr. Bessy had found time to take a little run out into the city before coming and had a beautiful cut glass dish for the expected bride-to-be, which he was a little loath to to give after he found out the truth of the matter. We were admonished not to tell the names of the parties upon whom the joke was perpetrated, but had the af fair been consumated, as reported, the Fanger department store would have been compelled to hire another clerk or be one young lady short.
