It seems out of season with Christ
mas in sight to see farmers out plowing,
yet this is the case. The hired man
does not have to lie around in the shade
and fight flies now, but just keeps on
moving and earns his money.
Corn is going up and hogs are coming

stopped and can't leave home, get
tangled in the sheet and can't sleep
those miserable sun spots do it all, they
aid congress in causing trouble.
James Campbell with a Sears-Roebuck

Jimmie came in with the most rabbits

Chas. Philpot from Mt. Pleasant pre
cinct stopped on his way to Platts
mouth to see if the financial cloud still
hung black and ominous over our fair
burg, he found us flurishinglike a pond
lily and a rift in that black cloud, where
the sunbeams shine through that's
what makes you smile, besides you get
more cash for your money than any
other place in the state.
There is considerable talk of organiz
ing a Farmers' Mutual telephone line
here at Murray, on the same principle
as the Union Mutual line. If a system
can be put in here as one of the direct
ors of the Union line suggests, we can
connect with their line and have a free
toll system. The same with Avoca and
the Philpot lines, thus getting free toll
of the east half of the county and
phone rent at a rate of 50c per month.
All it needs is a pusher and we are
assured of success.

Back to Nature.
We now hear, oftener than ever be
fore, that we should go back to Nature,
from which wc are constantly drifting
away. They say that the simple life
alone can save humanity from an early
destruction. We eat and drink too
much, we are given to excesses, and
therefore are given to many diseases
and sufferings. It is, of course, impos
sible to quit at once all the comforts of
our modem life and everything we like
to eat and drink, but we can arrange
our mode of life so as not to disturb the
functions of the digestive organs.
Should you notice that you cannot eat
as much as usual or with the same relish,
use Triner's American Elixir of Bitter
Wine. It will keep those organs in a
healthy activity and thus make the
digestion perfect, the blood pure, the
nerves and muscles strong, the mind
clear and energetic. You will go back
to Nature if you wili keep your body in
such condition that it will accept and
digest as much nutritious food as is
necessary for preserving your health
and strength.
Triner's American Elixir of Bitter
Wine will do it for you. At drug stores.

Shut Dog In Church.
Last Sunday evening, when the sei -vices
at the Christian church closed, and
Rev. Zink locked up the building, as
there had been two dogs in the room,
he drove them out, but as he turned off
the gas one of them must have slipped
back, as it was warm inside. During
the week some time, the dog getting
hunger tore up a number of the song
books, at the church, some one hearing
the barking of the dog turned him out,
but not until he had distroyed a num
ber of books.

John A. Dcnelan Doing Nicely.
Reports from Omaha are to the effect .
that John A. Donelan of Lincoln, who
was operated upon at Omaha yesterday !
for appendicitis is doing as well as could j
be expected. His case was one that i
was much aggravated, and in which, j
the veriform appendix, after having j
been removed, there was found a small i
stone imbedded, that was the cause of j
much of the trouble which he had. It
is expected that he will have a rapid )
recovery; the attending physician said j
that he sees no reason why Mr. Donelan j
should not be able to return home at i
the end of two weeks. I

Agricultcral Class Views Cattle.
The agricultural class at the High
School took the opportunity to view the
shipment of a fine lot of shorthorn cat
tle from this place, coming from the
farm of Stark juhn Rrothers, this morn
ing, which is giving them some practi
cal insight to the studies which they
are taking at the High School. About
ten young ladies and two men make up
the class; and when at the yards this
morning, which is near the river, one
of the young men thought to display
some of his activity, and getting gay,
fell into the water, where it was not
very deep, but was enough to necessi
tate the change of raiment which
he was in great haste to make.
Citizens of Plattmouth Again.
Mrs. Nelson Jones and children came
in this morning from Woodburn, Iowa,
where they have been making their
home for the past year, and will make
this their home for the present. Mr.
Jones will arrive during the day or
evening with the stock and household
effects. They have been farming near
Woodburn and it being difficult to se
cure land on favorable terms they con
cluded to return to Plattsmouth.
Wm. Leesley, of Greenwood, was a
business visitor in the city this morn
ing looking after some business matters.
