TERRORS OF THE "BIG MUDDY" The Missouri river is again rising very rapidly and is now higher than it has been before this season. The water is now running through the slough beyond the bridge, and where the current strikes the bank on the other side, the water is some thirty feet deep and is cutting underneath so that it is with great difficulty that anything can be done with it. At a point about a mile above, directly opposite the Burlington station, where the cross current strikes with the greatest force. Last summer there stood a house on a farm owned bv one Everets, of Council Bluffs, standing nearly a half mile from the bank of the river, which had to be moved to keep the river from taking it. The river now has cut past where the house then stood and is rapidly approaching it again, with this trouble of playing hide-and-seek with the river and the house, is coupled with the fact, that the river has appropriated more than half of the quarter-section, which constitutes the farm on which the house stood. An other move means to place the house n someone else's land, with, the far-r. e.j I its way to the Gulf of Mexico.
