Tribune the other day warned a new reporter to write nothing unless he knew it to be absolutely true. Next day he handed in the following society item: "It is rumored that Mrs. Smith, who claims to reside on South Chesnut street, gave a so-called dinner party to a number of her alleged friends. She asserts that they all had a good time. In the progressive euchre feat ure which followed the dinner, Mrs. Brown, who claims to be the wife of Postmaster Brown, was the successful one."
