Consumption ffl There is no specific for consumption, hresh air, ex ercise, nourishing food and Scott's Emulsion will come pretty near curing it, if there ts anything to build on. Mil lions of people throughout the world are living and in good health on one lung. J From time immemorial the ' doctors prescribed cod liver oil for consumption. Of course the patient could not take it in its old form, hence it did very little good. They can take SCOTT'S EMULSION and tolerate it for a long lime. There is no oil, not excepting butter, so easily digested and absorbed by the system as cod liver oil in the form of Scott's Emul.Mi n, and that is the reason it is so helpful in consumption where Us use must be continuous. q We will send you a sample free. On th Evcof Strikiii Thirty-rJve thousand switchmen In the railroad yards between Pittsburg and the Pacific coast are believed to beonthceveof a strike which will paralyze for a time at least, the trans portation facilities of the country. Committees of the varH mpn'a nnlnnc in all the cities are presenting the de mands, which are for a ireneral eli?ht hocr day with the same rjav as nn Mia i a j " w tcn-nour basis. The crisis la the si tu ation Is cxDccted i now mucn the country would suffer . ...... iiuiu ucii ascr ve mav hA net motoi by considering the fact that with ev. cry man and with every car and en gine employed night and day it Is im possible to take care of the Immense tramc that is forced by commerce upon the railroads, tiia has already fallen heavily on the gralD trade and centralized Industries, like coal, iron and sugar. The comnanles have nearly all met the employees in tbe spirit of friendliness and have of fered to make concessions, nart.ien. larly In regard to Increased wages. The men, however, demand shorter hours also, and that seems to h thP prospective Impediment. It is, of course, of the highest importance that there be an adjustment before a strike Is called. The demands of the men range from It) to 20 ner cent In wnimc and the shortnln of the working day oy an average of an hour. What shall beafalr increase constitutes matter for arbitration. A thrilling story comes from Omaha In the following taken from the World Herald; "Caged in a burning and loaded furniture car traveling at forty miles an hour, II. E. Frost of Water loo, Ja., spent a halt hour of awful suspense Tuesday night while trying to beat his way from Simon to Omaha with four tramps. The car was set on tire oy tramps, b rost says, before his very eyes and the rive only escaped by wriggling through a small ventilator opening at one end. Frost's hands were badly burned, Police Surgeon! Harris dressing them when he arrived In Orraha Wednesday morning. "An effort is being made to locate the four tramps who were In the car with t rost, since the Emerson police think it a case of incendiarism. The car and furniture was completely de stroyed, the train arriving at Emer son Just in time to put the blazing rolling stock on a siding to save the rest of the train. The whereabouts of the four tramps Is not known, but i' rost caught the next train for Om- aha to furnish tlie police here a de scription of the men. "FrOSt is a nalntpr hv trdmnil doing job work over Northeastern Ne- oraka. He became stranded and with out funds and so started in to beat his way home. When he entered the car at Simon he found four tramps there, smoking and singing. He says that one of the tramps threw a match luto a pile of excelsior iust after tho train started. The other three pitched In and tried to extinguish the blaze, nut it soon got beyond control. It then became a battle for life, and the nve men escaped just before the train reached Emerson, the burning car leaving a trail of lames like a comet. "Frost is belnc held bv the noli for further investigation and possible de- vclopements." W. S. Ham. of Oroirnn on1 , ... vjuii 1 UIIU MrS. 1. Lfndsav.
