M r. and Mrs. White have been feeling quite poorly of late and It Is hoped the trip will prove beneficial to their health. Huge now's band, of Lincoln, has been pro cured, and tho committee Is at work getting other big attractions. Don't forget the date and prepare to come. John Gerry Stark received a tele gram Monday announcing the death of Mrs. E. A. Stopher, In California, which occurred early Sunday morning, the funeral occurring Tuesday. No particulars regarding her death have been received. The whole community Is sorry to hear of her death and ex tend sympathy to the sorrowing rela tives. Vallery, and as there aTe no marks on the paper to Indicate who it is from, we simply suppose it Is from Henry. It Is a mammoth edition of twenty-six pages and contains 17.12 Inchesof advertising of business houses In Fairbanks. This Issue is dated Sunday, August 12, l'.m, and the price of the paper is tiM.Oo per year, or "." cents per (tingle copy. The paper Is published by the Tanana Publishing Company, with W. F. Thomas, man ager. It Is rather a neat paper, and would do credit to metropolitan jour nalism. The advertising display shows the taste of an excellent ad roan, as does in fact, the make-up of the entire paper. Mr. Vallery will accept our thanks for this copy, anyhow. Owing to the rush of work, the shops will resume their full time of fifty- nine hour per week, beginning with nine hours tomorrow. Joe Moss bus resigned his place at the shops and gone to McCook, where he began work for the 1!. & M. last Monday. Mrs. Moss and family are preparing to move at once. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Nines, ' who moved from Ilavelock to a farm near l'lattsmouth last spring, were In the city the forepart of tho week visiting friends and attending the falr.t The lturltngton closed Its shops at this place last, Wednesday to give the men a chance to attend the fair. Everybody seemed to appreciate the opportunity and made It Ilavelock day, with a remarkably large attend ance from our city and vicinity. Jas. Oram, a clerk In the supply de partment who was transferred to l'lattsmouth, left for his new duties last Tuesday morning. We regret to sco him leave Ilavelock, but as the change meant a nice promotion, his friends will have occasion to feel pleased at the recognition of his faith ful and efllcient services. Jas. Llddlecom, A. A. Hyers and C. W. Holmes went out to Ravenna last Saturday for a chicken hunt. The first two gentlemen returned the fore part of the week but Mr. Holmes re mained for a few days to enjoy his fa vorite sport of llshlng In the lakes of the sand hills. He choses this method of passing the time pleasantly while waiting for his broken leg to heal. A. C. Ilugg, who has been doing clerical work at the shops, has been transferred to Seward and made oper ator at that point. He left for his new duties Wednesday morning. Mrs. Hugg, who Is visiting In Ohio, will Join him at Seward when she returns and they will make that their home for the present. We regret to lose them from Ilavelock but trust the change will prove advantageous to them. A Rpeclal from Greenwood under date of Saturday, September 8, gives the following particulars of two sud den deaths In that, vicinity. "Two very sudden deaths occurred here to day. Issac Amlc, an old soldier aged seventy-one years ate his breakfast and went out to take care of his horse when he fell over and expired in a few moments. 'It. A. Chapln, an early settler of Cass county, coming here In the early fifties and settling on Salt Cresk, had been In poor health for the past year, sat down in a chair after eat ing dinner and was found dead a short time after. 'Mr. Amlc had been In his usual good health and had spent Thursday at the state fair. Funeral services here. The G. A.
