One Who Was Thi:i:i: ' Plattsmouth made no etTort to have, a big celebration on the great natal day, and no one wasdlsappoin'cd with what we did have. There was plenty of firecrackers, both large and small, thunder sticks and all kinds of shoot ing devices put. to use from early in the morning until after the last glim mer in the business houses had been extinguished. In fast It was very easy to perceive that the Glorious Fourth was here. About nine' o'clock In the morning the City liand made its appearance up on Main street, and furnished soul-ln-gplrlng strains at different localities until the noon hour. After dinner seats were provided for them on the court house lawn, where they continu ed to entertain the people at intervals durlnir the afterncon and for some time in the evening. No special effort was made in the direction of a grand display of" tire works, yet there was numerous rock ets and smaller explosives put In use in front of the business houses and at private homes for the enjoyment of the children. The ball game In the forenoon be tween the "Rex Sox" and the "Invln- clbles" attracted quite a crowd, and which resulted In a victory for the Omahans by a score of 7 to 3. A little after the dinner hour quite a rain came up, and the second game, which was "booked" for 3 o'clock was delayed until 4:.'M. A large crowd had assembled at tlie park w hen another little shower came up, rendering the diamond Impossible for use, and about 'in.OO of gate receipts had to be re funded. This is where the "Red Sox" lust out financially. Put the "Invin cibles" have made a date to try them again next Tuesday.
