Mrs. Daisy Hoover came In from
Louisville this morning for a visit
with her parents. Miss Nellie Sher
wood, who has been visiting with her,
accompanied her home.
Mrs. Peter Zelhen, who lias been
here for some time visiting her par
ents, Mr. and Mis Anton Kankc and
other fi lends.departed last evening for
her home in Kenosha, Wis.
Kx-Sena'or S. L. Thomas departed
this morning for his ranch, near Akron,
Colo. Mr. Thomas has been here for
several weeks, looking alter some pri
mate matter, and lett the ranch in
charge of Mrs. Thomas and his iiranii-
son, a son of Wall Thomas Vur Inu his
absence.

that Merrlt S. Kerr and family, who
have resided In Pittsburg, Kan., for
the past few months, liavo returned to
Kansas City, where Merrltt has se
cured a more lucrative position, and
where they hope to make their per
manent home.
The Cass county teacher's Institute
w ill convene at Weeping Water, Neb.,
August LI for a weeks session. The
choice of place was left to the teach
ers and Weeping Water received a
majority of seven votes over l'latts
mouth. Supt. Fulmer of Beatrice,
Dean Fordyccof University Place and
Miss Margaret Farley of Lincoln will
be the Instructor';. Several evening
addresses will be given by prominent

Mrs. William .McCauley, who has
been visit hi; with her daughter, Mrs.
Sam Patterson, of Arapahoe, returned
home last, evening. Mrs, McCauley
reports her daughter Miilering from a
very severe attack of ivy poisoning,
which broke out on her face and neck
and attained a very painful phase be
fore the worst was passed. When
Mrs. McCauley left her Mrs. Patterson
was convalescing nicely. Doris Pat
terson accompanied her grandmother
home and will visit w ith her for a lit
tle while.

Whalen, Yerna Cole, Hattle Fight
and Minnie Docrlng.
Mrs. Clark, who was called here on
account of the death of her sister, M rs.
D. M. Jones, departed for her home In
Lead, S. 1). Mr. Jones accompanied
her as far as Omaha.
Reports received from John Uusche
are to the effect that he Is Improving
nicely and will be able to sit up In
few days. It will be remembered that
Mr. ltusche recently underwent an
operation at Omaha for appendicitis,
C. W. Green and wife came down
from havelock Saturday evening and
visited with friends over Sunday. Mr.
and Mrs. Green resided In riatts
mouth many years and they received
a cordial greeting by all their old
friends.
Mrs. John Chapman of San Plcgo,
Cal., who has been visiting here for
sometime, went to Omaha and Council
Uluffs, Iowa, this morning for a brief

P. A. Horn, who has been In the
city receiving treatment for an In
jured hand, caused from poison, re
ports the same almost entirely well.
It threatened for sometime to give
Mr. Horn considerable trouble.
Mrs. William Ratterson, who has
been enjoying a visit with her parents,

W. D. Jones' horse that was hi the
w reck at Cedar Creek last week and
was badly injured, while the othcrone
was killed outright, has nearly recov
ered from its Injuries. Which Is due
to the careful attention of Its owner.

commencement exercises of Rrownell
