On Wednesday of last week, during tlie absence of its mother from the room, the baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. II. L. Meachem overturned a glass of lioil Ing jelly, the contents being spilled over the lower parts of its lace and neck, burning it In a frightful manner. Dr. Hohannan was called and dressed the wound, nnd the little one is doing nicely at present. On last, Monday evening at the home of Mr. Detman occurred what might have been a serious accident. Miss Lana Detman started the gasoline stove about supper time, and accident ally left the stopcock open. Before the generator became heated the gasoline ran out over the lloorand caught lire, and when Miss I it man returned to the room it was to tind everything about the stove in (lames. She got a cloth and attempted to extinguish the (lames, but was not able to do so and was quite badly burned aloutonearm. PiUnnlng outside she called to Mr. Co mer, who was at work on the pump there. As usual Chief Comer was equal to the occasion and succeeded In carrying out the stove and extinguish ing the Hames, which no doubt saved the house and contents from lielng burned. Mr. Comer seems always to be where he Is needed, and we are lucky to have a man that Is equal to such emergencies at the head of our lire department.
