adequate for its purpose, Is to be sub

vided that the cost will not exceed the

TRADE REVIEW FOR THE WEEK,
Dui. Sayt Conditions Are Without Ma
terial Change.
New York, June 11 R. G. Dun &.
Co.'b Weekly Review of Trade Bays:
Current trade conditions are without
chaDge and collections continue slow
as a rule, but there la growing confi
dence in the future, dealers exhibit
ing an Inclination to prepare for tall
and winter on a larger scale. There
la still much complaint that the weath
er is unseasonable for distribution and
payments are not prompt. Reports
regarding the building trades are al
most uniformly favorable, structural
work increasing as the season ad
vances. Railway earnings, now prac
tically complete for April, show a loss
of only 2.8 per cent, compared with
last year, and surpass the correspond
ing month of any preceding year. The
decline In the cost of living has con
tinued without interruption since
March 1.
List prices for iron and eteel prod
ucts are maintained In most cases,
mainly because of agreements
rather than the support of consump
tion. The supply Is limited. Some
evidence of weakness Is noted In
hides, both domestic and foreign, al
though actual changes tn quotations
are small.
Failures this week numbered 227.
' MRS. ELIAS IS DISCHARGED.
Negrees is Rearrested on a Second
Charge Piatt Has Feeble Memory.
New York, June 11. Mrs. Hannah
Ellas was discharged on motion of
Assistant District Attorney Rand at
the conclusion of the testimony of
John R. Piatt, the aged millionaire,
who caused her arrest for extortion.
Mr. Piatt proved a disappointing wit
cess. To questions bearing directly
on the charges on which the woman's
arrest had been made be answered re
peatedly, MI don't know." He did not
remember whether he had given Mrs.
Ellas large sums of money during the
last ten years, an charged, and did
Dot remember signing certain papers
in connection with the charges against
her. At soon as he had left the wlt
nesa chair Mr. Rand said: "Your
honor, I think the parties to this mis
erable scandal ought to be allowed to
ttew In their own grease." The magis
trate thereupon discharged the
woman. Immediately afterward Mrs.
Ellas was rearrested on a writ In the
civil suit brought against her by Mr.
riatt to recover $685,000. She was re
leased later on $20,000 ball.
Feel Impending Doom.
The feeling of impending doom in
the minds of many victims of Rrlght's
disease and diabetes has been changed
to thankfulness by the benefit derived
from taking Foley's Kidney Cure, it
will cure incipient Rrlght'sdlseaseand
diabetes, and even In the worst cases
gives comfort and relief. Slight dis
orders are cured in a few days. "I had
diabetes in its worst form.", writes
Marion Lee of I'unreath. Ind. '1 tried
eight physicians without relief. Only
three butties of Foley's Kidney Cure
made me a well man." For sale by V,
