The gun which Mr. M. K line thought
was stolen from his wagon last week
has heen reenved. Dan Pice? found it
in the road, near Judge Chapman's
residence, a few hours after it was
missed from the wagon, so he claims.
Mr. Mice delivered the gun to Sheriff
Mcl'ride Tuesday, who left the same
at thisolliee. Mr. K line called yester
day, paid t he live dollars reward, and

the wagon, and that the thief got
scared and threw it away, where it was
picked up.

J. II. Tames, coming to the conclu
sion that it was impossible to keep
house any longer without the Journal,
called last week and enrolled his name
for the great moral and religious
weekly.
Mrs. I. Pearlman entertained about
twenty lady friends on Friday after
noon last at a card party. Miss Mina
Herald assisted Miss Ida Pearlman in
serving refreshments. A most enjoy
able afternoon was spent and the
guests were high in their estimations
of Mrs. Pearlman as an entertainer.
M. P. Meisinger called Saturday and
renewed his faith in the Journal for
another year. We were pleased to
learn that Mr. Meisinger contemplates
remaining in Cass county for another
year and will rent a farm. He dii in
tend to remove to the farm he recent
ly purchased in Frontier county. It is
hard to give up old Cass.
Commissioners J. 1'. Falter and W.
II. Panning and county clerk Tyson,
returned from Grand Island last
Thursday, where they attended the
state meeting of commissioners and
supervisors. Mr. Falter wasappointed
a member of the executive committee.
All three gentlemen speak in the high
est terms of their treatment while in
the city of Grand Island.
