The News-Herald and Nebraska Farmer
A fine Buick Touring Car, a fine Howard Piano, and other valuable prizes will be given away.
Contest starts February 1, and ends at 6 p. m. April 3, 1909.
Any lady or gentleman living within the territory of the News-Herald except the residents of
the city of Plattsmouth may enter this rally, and one will have as good as chance to win as the other.
The Grand Prize
The grand prize is a fine two-cylinder, 22-horse
power, five passenger BUICK touring car bought
from Sidles Auto Co., Lincoln, Neb. This car has
92-inch wheel base and is suited for country roads.
This automobile will be awarded by the Nebraska
Farmer Co., of Lincoln, Neb., to the contestant re
ceiving the most votes in a group of fifteen contests
with Nebraska country papers, all of which will start
February 1, and close at six p. m. on Saturday, April
3, 1900.
A Grand Opportunity
Here is an opportunity not often afforded to
bright, bustling energetic ladies or gentlemen to se
cure one of of these magnificent prizes without the
expenditure of a penny. Is there anyone in this
country who would not appreciate one of the prizes
offered. The contest is of short duration and it would
take but little of your time to win one of these prizes.

The Piano
A fine HOWARD piano purchased from J. A.
Keeker, The Plattsmouth Music Co., will be awarded
by the News-Herald to the contestant receiving
the most votes in the News-Herald contest.
Description-Style J. Height, 4 feet 0 inches.
Made in mahogany, veneered and quartered oak,
venetrel. Carved panels, full swing desk, ivory
keys, solid hardwood frame, full iron plate, over
strung bass, three pedals, three unisons, muffler or
Ossian attachment with nickel plated rail. War
ranted for seven years.
Subscription Rates
The regular subscription price of $1.50 per year
for the News-Herald will be charged. A combined
subscription price of $2.00 per year, $4.00 for two
years, $G.00 for three years, and so on, will be
charged for the News-Herald and Nebraska Farmer.
The regular price of the Nebraska Farmer is $1.00
per year, but by taking advantage of this clubbing
proposition you save money on b )th papers.
Voting Schedule
Each year's renewal subscription to the local
paper counts 400 votes. Fach year's new subscrip
tion counts 800 votes. Each year's renewal subscrip
tion to the local paper, together with a year's sub
scription to the Nebraska Farmer, 1,200 votes. Each
year's new subscription to the local paper, together
with a year's subscription to the Nebraska Farmer,
1,000 votes. Five years paid to both papers, 2,000
extra votes. Ten years to both papers, 5,000 extra
votes. 15 years to both papers, 10,000 extra votes.
No votes will be counted on less than a year's pay
ment. The changing of a subscription from one
family to another will not count us a new subscription.
CONTEST
1. Any lady or gentleman living within the ter
ritory of the News-Herald except residents of Platts
mouth may become a contestant at any time during
the contest.
2. All contestants have the right to have as many
people working for them as they wish.
3. In case of a tie for any prize the persons so
tieing shall become joint owners of the prize.
4. There will be no duplicate voting cards issued.
5. votes cannot be transferred from one contes
tant to another after they have once been cast in
the ballot box.
6. No votes will be issued until the money has
been received at the News-Herald office.

7. A new subscriber is a person not taking the
News-Herald at the time this contest started.
8. No one can be counted as new subscribers but
once during the contest. If the name is put on the
list once and then a second payment is made, the
second payment will be counted an old subscription.
9. Votes may be cast in the ballot box as soon as
they have been issued, or they may be taken away
and. cast at any time during the contest.
10. Any one coming to the office and paying sub
scription will be given a voting card and will have
the right to cast it for any one he wishes.
11. Subscribers can vote as often as they choose
the News-
ws-Herald.
12. No contestent is limited to any particular ter
ritory, but has the riqht to secure subscriptions any
place.
13. All questions that arise which are not covered
by these rules w ill be decided upon by the contest
manager.
14. All contestants. will be provided with receipt
books and a copy of the News-Herald subscription
list in the territory in which they wish to work. They
will be authorized to collect money on subscription
and give a receipt for same and they will be en
titled to the votes that go with the money collected.
