Searlf, died at 10 o'clock this morninff
at her home on North Eighth street,
after a lingering illness of several
months with Bright'a disease.
Dcoouod was about sixty years, of
age and had resided in Plattsmouth
for many years, removing from Indi
ana to this city with her husband.
She had a large number of friends in
this city and was a dutiful wife and
kind mother. She leaves a husband
and one daughter to mourn her do
mife, tho latter, Mrs. Dollie Dodd, bo
intr at her bedside at the time of her
death.
Dr. George Chapman of Lincoln and
, Dr. Chapman of Missouri Valley, la..
brothers of deceased, will arrive in
the city this evening and the arrange
ments for the funeral will be perfected
tomorrow morning and announced in
tomorrow evening's News.

Ice packers wore never favored with
a better time to put up ice than the
present and they are taking advantge
of it. II. C. McMaken & Son, George
Poisall and a number of private par
ties are getting their supply this
week. Poisall alo has the contract
for filling tho Kruir Brewing com
pany's ice house. McMaken does the
cutting nnd loading far all the packers
except Pdisall, who has an outfit of his
own. It is quite a sight to see the
work of euitiriir and loading the ice.

It is expected that the work will be

Phittsmouth will be supplied with the
best ico it has had in many years.

RAILROAD NOTES AND PERSONALS
Phil Vurtemberger,who ha? charge
of the carpenter department of the
Burlington at Deadwood, came down
yesterday for a few days visit with
his family. He expects to remove his
family to Deadwood in the spring.
Freight Conductor Chas. Johnson,
who ruus between Schuyler and Ash
land, returned to his work last even
ing after a week?s illness. His little
daughter has also been ill with
measles.
Burlington engine No. 17 was
brought to the Plattsmouth shops for
repairs yesterday, having encountered
a slight mishap in the South Omaha
yards.
Contractor Sawtelle went to Omaha
this afternoon and will go to Lincoln
tomorrow morning in response to a
letter from the Burlington officials
He is of the opinion that they want to
make another contract with him on
the bridge fill. His present contract
is nearly finished, but owing to the
cold weather has stopped until spring,
It is expected that the fill will be
made up even with the track and the
dirt taken from the other side instead
of widening the cut on this side, as
was originally talked. To take dirt
from this side would intefere with
traffic too much.
Andy Nelson, who has been working
with the Burlington pile driver gang
at Beatrice, has been visiting in the
city for a few days.
The K. C. passenger train Dorth was
about four hours late today on account
of an accident on the Hanibal & St.
Joe road this morning. It pulled in
just ahead of the fast mail.
A portion of the Reck Island bridge
at South Bend was burned a few days
go. It is supposed to have caught
fire fiom an engine.
Frnnk Boyd of the Burlington
lumber raid was in Omaha on com
pany business today.
