Cod Mr. Patterson had the pleasure of
showing his well known dislike of the
Union soldier by voting against a reso
lution asking congress to placo the
superannuated scldiers on the pension
list. No soldier, therefore, can afford
to see an enemy elected to the responsi
ble office of senator as against an old
soldier who would be friendly to their
interests.
