Koon Mtrlcken With PrlyU While Amtlntluff lu the Search For the Audacious Fugitive. uckweiler I-afct evening Bhortly after dark be- ore many people were on the Btreot, a man of ordinary appearance, wear-in-; a brown suit of clothes, stepped into McKlwain's jewelry store and wanted to buy a watch. lie looked and made numerous enquiries of the proprietor and selecting two of the best ones, valued at wholesale at over "0. 00, ho deliberately picked the time pieces up and saying he guessed he would take them both he shot for the door and out round the corner, and over onto vino street from where lie ran to the river and was soon lost in the willows. McElwain shouted for the polico and went in hot pursuit of the scoundrel but to no purpose. W. J. Koon was iD the store when the stranger came in, but had stepped out on the side walk when the theft occurred and joined in tho rush lo catch the thief. While near the de pot Mr. Koon was stricken with par alysis and for a time his life was despaired of. He was carried to the Hotel Plattsmouth and Dr. Schild knecht was called. He rallied after a time and today he is much better, though not entirely out of danger. The thief who caused all the com motion has not been seen or hoard of today, though telegrams and postal cards have been sent in all directions to intercept him. Tt is quite probable that he belongs to some of the Omaha gang of thugs aiid his capture or recovery of prop erty is not probable. A Notable Gathering;. Uncle Noah Clemmons, residing seven miles south of town, is one of the pioneers of Casa county and his sterling qualities have found for him a warm place in the hearts of hi neighbors- Mr. Clemmons has had some litigation recently over the title to his farm, which resulted at the last term of court, in a judgment in his favor, and so to attest their apprecia tion for him, and for his success, about seventy-five neighbors and other friends called on him last Saturday evening. They brought cake and ice cream and other good things to eat, and with an abundance of good music, a most delightful evening waa spent. Uncle Noah is past eighty-four years of age but is as bright and active as most men of iifty. At a late hour the friends departed wishing their host many more useful vtars. TRANS -MISSISSIPPI EXPOSITION At Omaha Yesterday. The Foresters from this city made a fine appearing body at Omaha yester day in their clean, bright uniforms. Headed by tho band they marched to the Dellone hotel where they were admired by the crowd who took them to be from Kansas City. II. It. Ger ing. John Ledgeway and D. B. Smith were the managers, Harry Barthold drill master and France Ballance assis tant. The boys were unable to secure any of the prizes though their appear ance was certainly better than some of these who won. Larue camp from Union also made a tine appearance, uaarly 100 members in uniform being in line. Swiped a Coat. A slide thief traveling with the circus outfit watched an opportunity the night of the circus and as the Missouri Pacific 10:43 train was pulling out he jumped up to an open car window and stole an over coat oat of a seat that lay temptingly neir. The owner of the coat did not notice his loss until the train was eut of town. When he reached Nebraska City he telegraphed bacK a complaint about his loss, but by that time the circus crowd was all out of town. Honae Coming Special limj and, Feature of the lllff Show.
