INFORMATION AND I l'I N I O.N .
If there is to be another groat
slaughter at Santiago persisted in for
the "honor of Spain" it will not bo
the fault of General Shatter, who has
made use of the discretion allowed him
to give General To.-al ample titno to
make up his mind to a surrender. Tho
bombard ment will of course result in
a useless effusion of blood, but if tho
Spanish ministry will have it so, on
tho head of the queen regent and her
cabinet be tho responsibility.
A ne v law has been passed by con
gross which enables everybody to uso
postal cards of their own design.
This will bo a great convenience to
business men. All you havo to do is
to get cards of tho proper size, use
one siae for writing or printing what
you wish and tho other side for tho
address only affixing a one-cent
stamp on tho side containing tho ad
dress.
The plumbers in Kansas City have
struck lor an increase ol wasres, irom
$3.25 per d;iy to $3.75. The presen
ware is certainly pretty lair ana we
tear the striking plumbers may miss
all tho plums, if they continue in their
demands.
War news are scarce today. With
Gen. Miles at Santiago something will
certainly happen very boon, eith r the
surrender of Torral or tho taking ol
the city' by force.
