Monday to decorate and beautify the
interior of their store building. When

The department store wiil put on
sale Saturday morning an immense
line of capes, jackets, wraps skirts
and shirt waists ever ghown outside of
Omaha in this state. It will be worth

B. C. Yoomans, an old timer of
Weeping Water, was in town last
night and returned to his home in
Lincoln this morning. Hi is conduc
tor now on the street railway of Liu
coin, and his son Bert is a motorman.

Mrs. Wescott's Sunday school class
of young ladies called upon her last
night and gave her a surprise on the
occasion of her fiftieth birthday

ple and elegant, and the young ladies
passed a very gleasant evening with
their honored and beloved teacher.
Today 19 Arbor day and a very quiet
day it has been. A few people planted
trees in commemoration of the day
and to beautify their homes. The
court house tfflces we closed during
the afternoon and the banks took
holiday. Arbor day, for the benefit
of coming generations, should be more
generally observed.
During the term of district court
which adjourned sine die, last Mon
day, every criminal case was disposed
of, leaving the Cass county jail with
out an inmate. Every law case ready
for trial was either tried or settled.
and the equity docket, consisting of
93 cases was reduced to 49, leaving
only 71 law and equity cass now on
the docket.
The funeral of the late Miss Tillie
Ohm occurred this afternoon at the
German Lutheran church, Rev. Ratz,
officiating. There was a very
lartre attendance of friends who
knew the popular young lady in her
life time and who assembled to pay
their last respects to her memory,
There was a profusion of flowers at
testing the esteem and respect la
which the young woman was held.
All should hear tho Nashville Stu
dents Colored Comedy Company at
the opera house next Monday night.

little jack-leg saying that he did not
need any drilling, and wasspoiling for
a fight, and then proceeded to count

not refrain from thinkingthat the little
would-be man-eater should be given a
little drum instead of such a big horn
to fight with.
John Klaurens house, five miles
northeast of town, caught fire Sunday
night about 9 o'clock, the fire orginat
ing in the shed kitchen where the
stovepipe goes through tho shinlo
roof. The loss will be about tf.Vi in re
