A SuccrsHful Hoime. Ilamllton Crhartt & Co. started in a small way to manufacture overalls And clothing in Detroit a few years ngo, and by attention to business and manufacture of superior goods, their business has grown until it i9 ono of the big houses in tho manufacturing city. Their mako of overalls and trousers is generally recognized as the best, and their agents here, Klein & Co., never tiro of talking over tbe merits of these goods. Klein & Co. have the exclusive agency in this county for this tirm, and the first of the week they received an elegant picture advertising tho over alls that is worth seeing. The picture is 7x0 feet in size, and while the famous engine 99U of the New York Central is shown coming from the round house, the engineer standing six feet high with oil can in hand, wearing a suit of tho famous overalls, makes a striking picture wonderfully true to lifo. The engineer looks as if ho was ready to speak, and the entire work bespeaks evidence of having done been by an artist. These goods can only can only be had in this county of Joe & Frank a fact that the public should bear in mind. Tiik sufTragisl fight in Iowa has reached the acute stage beforethe lejislaturo, says the Fremont Tribune. A peculiar feature of it is the appear ance of women on the scene in opposi tion to the proposed measure, aa well as in favor of it. Doth sides have had an inning before the Solons and have given bome keen thrusts. Aa a mere matter of interest, rather than of ar gument, the following sample of a prosuffrage speech of Mrs. Coggeshall of Des Moines is submitted: "They tell us, women have all the rights they need, and that men give them freely; but it took a fight of eleven years in Massachusetts for a wife to secure the riht to bo buried in her husband's cemetery. If it is true that woman started tho clothing business when eve arrayed herself and Adam in fig leaves, it would 6eem that after 6,000 years woman ought to own her own clothing, yet when a Con necticut man burned all his wife's clothing it was held that he could not be punished because they were his property, not his wife's. They taunt the suffragists with trying to wear the men's clothes; but, in fact, we have been wearing men's clothes since we left the Garden of Eden." BRIEFLY TOLD. Fred Tulip, a late arrival in the city, who claims to be a genuine "sleuth" from Boston, went into the house of Mattie Beebe at 904 Capitol avenue and told the inmates that he needed their assistance in "piping a clew," ana that they must put on their best clothes and jewelry and ac company him at once or he would have them arrested for refusing to assist an officer, says the Omaha Bee. It cnancea mat tne ueebe woman had a number of diamonds on her person which had not escaped the eagle eye of the eastern man, and thinking that lulip had designs upon them tne woman called an officer and had hira arrested.
