Ed Howe, in his Atchison Globe,
has a write-up of Francis C. Grablo
that is both unique and entertaining,
savs an exchange. It seems that in
the early days of Nebraska when
Howe and uraule were young men,
they both lived at Falls City. Howe
ran a newspaper and Grablo kept
books in a bank, woro killing side-
whiskers and sang in the choir. Howe
says he was the poorest singer he ever
heard, but held down hid job on ac
count of his good looks. When the
editor took a wife, Grable took his
whiskers and occupied the position of
best man.' Wonderful changes have
taken place since then. Grablo be
came wealthy and has lost it all in
booming the booming west. Howe
has stuck to his newspaper business
and has fame and money enough to
last him till he goes to a warmer cli
mate than Kansas. Both are old men
and deserve sympathy rather than
abuse.
The new dining car "Hastings" was
brought up from the Plattsmouth
coach shops yesterday and will go in
to service on the main line trains be
tween Lincoln and Akron, Colo. As
a "diner" the "Hastings" is perfec

heated by the moat improved type of
Baker heater and is finished through
out in highly polished bard woods.
The body of the car is finished in rich
orange, the color recently adopted by
the company to supplant the former
finish, which was yellow. State

Africa's monkeys are giving out. In
