This poem was written by Mrs. I), C. McKil
lip of Seward and read as the close of the pro
gram of the Federation of Woman's dubs, that
met at Beatrice this week.l
My friends, there's fallen to my lot.
Whether deservedly or not.
The last words of this federation:
'Ti? much against my inclination.
For where a thing's so bright and clever
I'd like to have it last forever.
But. in our homes, warm hearts are beating
And childish voices oft repeating.
1 his glad refrain since morning light:
Mamma's coming home tonight.
And other hearts, perhaps, w iil glow
With pleasure, though no one will know.
Because it would not sound just right.
But to himself, with real delight.
He whispers what he does not sav:
I'm triad she's cominz home today.
And while it is delightful here.

Our heart-strings pull us homeward so;
Though loath to leave, we're glad to go.
cut this convention, so immense
This Klondvke of intelligence.
Deserves congratulations.
Because its officers throughout
Are chosen well, and will, no doubt.
Fulfill all expectations;
Also because its lines are cast
In pleasant places these days past.
In Beatrice:
Are fraueht with memories bright and clear:
They'll linger with us year by year.
And never cease.
We've heard what other states can do
Talked household Economics, too.
And mixed clubs to relieve it.
rome think it wouid increase our joys
To have the presence of our boys.
While others don't believe it;
The truth is, we have come in touch
With other minds, and learned so much
e scarcely can contain it.
But when we reach our homes again
And meet our clubs once more,, why then
Just think how we'll explain it.
This lovely city on the Blue.
Our royal entertainers, too.
We wish to thank.
The pleasures they have kindly given
Would make life's pathway up to heaven
An Eden's bank.
We thank our guests, who were invited
From o'er our Borders we're delighted
To have them here.
Long we'll remember oue another
We've had a helpful time together.
And bonnie cheer.
Like dritt-wood on the billowy main.
We meet and touch, then part again:
O'er life's restless sea we drift away
Perchance we'll touch again some day.
May the happiness that each would know.
Attend us everywhere we go;
Good-bye are words too sad by far.
And so we'll just say au-revoir.
