The Bemis Brothers Bag company,
the largest hag manufacturing con
cern in the world, with factories at
Omaha. St. Louis, Minneapolis, West
Superior nnd New Orleans, have de
cided to reach, out and enter a new
field early next spring. At that time
thu company will open a factory in
San Fmdcibco.
Yesterday, in speaking of the de
cision to establish a bag factory on the
Pacific coast, M. C. Peters, local man
ager of the Bemis Bros. Bag company
said: "Plans have been completed
whereby we will open a factory in San
Francisco for the manufacture of all
kinds of bags. At the start the plant
will give employment to not less than
100 nersons. which number will un
doubtedly be incseased very materially
a the work progresses.
"The Pacific coast country uses an-
. nually about 30.0C0,0O0 jute sacks of
different sizes, all of which, with the
exception of about 4,000,000, came
from India. Under the provisions of
the the Wilson tariff law we could not
compete with the cheap labor of Asia
and consequently were unable to
manufacture on the Pacific coast. The
McKinley law, parsed at the last sea
fcion of congress, has afforded protec
tion to American labor and now we
feel justified in branching out and es
tablishine this new factory. For a
time we shall rent buildings in San
Francisco, but eventually we expect
to build and nut in as complete a
plant as there is in the world." Bee.

London, Sept. !). The Berlin cor

The statement that the German and
Austrian emperors have decided to
intervene between the United States
and Spain is unfounded. Public opin

question of the German cabinet mak
ing itself a catspaw for Spain, while
.Austrian diplomats will not allow

The Best Kerned? For Rheumatism.
(From the Fairhaven, N. Y., Register.)
Mr. James Rowland, of this village
tates that for twenty-fire years his
wife has been a sufferer from rheum

the physician he went to the store.'and
secured a bottle of it His wife did
not approve of Mr. Rowland's purchase
at first, but nevertheless applied the
Balm thoroughly and in an hour's
time was able to go to sleep. Che now

THAT OLD FUR GARMENT
Is worth almost as
much tod a j' ' as the
day you bought it; but you don't know It. As long as the hair is on
the skin it is GOOD. Moth eaten or worn spots can be taken out
without even showing a seam. -
The only question is what can be done with it. Its out of style
and worn. Maybe it needs new lining, or should be stylishly
trimmed. The old coat would make a beautiful full sweep cape,
and capes are just the thing this season. There's that old fur gar
ment you haven't worn for years, because it is all "fagged out."
Why, that will make a beautiful collarette; just the thing for fall
and spring wear. Then just look at that garment. It is entirely
"gone up." The hair Etands the wrong way on it and t is worn
and matted. "Its no earthly viae." Well, it does look bad, but by
' the process of glazing the fur is brought out and cleaned and then,
when remodeled, it is like new. .
During July And August of this year, we will make a speci
alty of ALTERATIONS and REPAIRS. Our system of measure
ment is such we can fit you as well by mail as by personal measure
ment. We make NEW FUR and PLUSH GARMENTS to YOUR
ORDER. ALL WORK GUARANTEED. Write to us.
