weeks' illness with pneumonia, was
well enough to come to town today

The Hawaiian Daily Star, published
at Honolulu, Sandwich Islands, is a
frequent visitor at these headquarters.

Mrs. C. S. Dawson expects to leave
Jolie: today with her grand daughters,

in the State Hotel Dining hall, a

William Freeze of Syracuse has re
moved his family to this city where

Dame Rumor says there is a wedding
slated to take place about the middle
of April between two prominent young
people of this vicinity.
Rev. Peter Van Fleet and wife
visi ted friends between trains yester
day. They were on their way to
Wahoo to attend a wedding.
Maud Buckle was awarded the prize
offered by Colonel Hogeland for the
best composition on the remarks made

some time ago.
Miss Marie Swoboda visited over
Sunday with her brother, John, in
Lincoln. On Saturday they visited
the university and enjoyed the museum
and other objects of interest very
much.
M L. McDanies who has been in
the employ of the B. & M. in this city
for a number of years, has shipped his
housch old goods to Shenandoah, la.,
and will depart with bis family for
that place iu a few days where they
will reside in the future.

There was a large attendance last
evening at the council chamber when
the eitj- council was convened as a.
court of inquiry into the charge
against Mayor C W. Stahlhut. Clerk
Hoge read the defondant's answer to
the charges and Attorney Warren, for
the plaintiff, moved to strike out all
of the answer after the eleventh line.
The motion was argued by Messrs
Watson and Warren and sustained by
the council and the taking of evidence
in the case begun. Clerit Hoge was
the first witness and testified to por
tions of the records of the council.
After a time Councilman Johnson
suggested that the whole matter be
left to an arbitration committee of dis
interested people. This did not meet
with favor and the council adjourned
to 8 o'clock this evening.
