W. Bates and tho 70th anniversary of
the birth of E. W. Barnum. Thero
were present: E. W. Barnum, II. C.
U'olph, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. S. M. Kirk
natrick. Mrs. Amelia Weston, B. W.
Bates and wife, L. C. Pollard and
wife, Amsdel Sheldon and wife of
Avoca, and Mr. and Mrs. Halsey of
Wyoming. It was a notable gather
ing of some-jf the early pioneers of
this part of the state, and the day was
greatly enjoyed by all.

The Presbvterian ladies scored quite
a social and financial success at their
Birthday social last evening. A large
crowd was present and an unusually-
pleasant time was had. The ravenue
derived must have netted a neat sum,
as each guest was supposed to bring a
penny for each year of his or her age.
