there lying alongside a great book of
photographs stamped "Roma," is an
immense beautifully bound album con
taining nothing but the names of Italian
students. The bright face of Lord Rose
bery looks out on you from a large silver
frame surmounted with the letter "U,"
while the ascetic countenanc of Jobu

Mrs. Cornelia M. Thomas, of St.
Paul, is under arrest charged with hav
ing stolen $1,000 from her sister, Mrs.
Mary D. Thillips. of Seattle, Wash. The
circumstances preceding tho arrest arc
peculiar. Mrs. I'hillips was in St. Paul
receutly. She returned to Seattlo and
while en route dreamed that Cornelia
Thomas had abstracted $1,000 of .400
which sho had in the lining of her dress.
A search revealed tho umount $1,000
short. Mrs. Phillips returned at once
to St. Paul. Sirs. Thomas was searched
and part of the stolen money found on
her. The stolen bills were sewed into a
belt worn next to her skin by Mrs.

Ho found an opportunity lo call at
the young woman's home, and, as he
was an agreeable companion and n
good conversationist, his visits went
as agreeable as they were frequent.
Finally he was received with such
favor that young man No. I began to
realize that he was losing ground,
and he determined to take decisive
action.
When lie got a chance he casually

she knew anything about his rival's
occupation. She had never thought
