Cincinnati, O., Nov. 3,A case
of
the most horrible torture itnag
inable came to light to-day. loi
months Mary A. Kohacke, seventeen
years old, living with her parents
at 1M Mint street, has been an inva

the family physician, pronannced
the case hopeles, but Tuesday 1
Gustay Hoyer, a horse doctor and
liniment peddler, put in an appe
anee and declared he could cure
the girl. The parents consented
the treatment. He bought a peck
of timothy seed, which he put into
a tub ami stepped in boiling water.
He set a small chair in the water,
and stripping the girl's leg naked,
lay them ove the wuter and cov
ered them with heavy blankets.
The hot steam burned her and she
began screaming. The mother and
younger sinter tried to get her away,
I. ut the horse doctor stood guar. I
ind forced the girl to endure it for
half an hour. Her screams alarmed
the neighbors, and an excited crowd
gathered, but the "doctor" would
brook no interference. Taking her
from her torture of hot steam, the
doctor" laid her on a Jed. The
kin hung from her legs in twisted
strings. He bound the legs in linen
bandages, drawing the rolls ns
tight as he could. He then took a
pint bottle of horse linament and
saturated the bandages. At this
the girl's screams became terrific,
but the "iiocter" said that was good
for her. II-ordered that she lay in
bed with baudaircrt on for three
hours, at the end of which lime she
would he well. The girl moaned
till the mother could endure it no
longer, and removed the bandages
after they had hecu on but an hour.
The strong liniment had completed
what the hot steam so well begun,
and the legs resembled great
chunks of hall boiled meat. 1'or
