on the H. & M. Tuesday, the particu
lar of which have just been made
public. It feems that as the Atchi.

Summers and Kngtnecr Kenan was
going upon the bridge there the
caboose ran off the track. It soon
fell faom the bridge dragging with
it the rear live cars. Conductor
Summers had already jumped and
so snved his life. The cars were
piled up in an unrecognisable
masses in the valley below, barely
escaping a house where people were
sleeping.

loge -funds. This state of affairs
was caused by the failure of the
bank of Ainsworth. of which th.
treasurer, Charles (J. Alton, was
c ish'er. The funds, amounting to
about lisi.iKM. were deposited in tin
bank and when that instition w.n
unexpectedly closed the funds went
into the general wreck. Mr. Alton's
boudmau having recently been
caught in the Omaha barb wiie
failure, the gr.itid lodge will prob
ably not recover any part of the
funds, Mr. Alton has been honored
with the office of treasurer for live
years. No blame whatever is at
tached to him in the unfortunate
alfair.
The power house of the Rapid
Transit company was burned to
the ground last night at Beatrice.
The loss is about !?10,iHH) with M
insurance. The management have
announced their intention of re
building at unci'.
