town offered a reward for its return and
many individuals joined in tho search,
but hope of finding these records was

ever, the cxprer brought from Boston a
package containing three books hi excel
lent preservation, without any explana
tion. Gue of them was the early rec
ords of Gorhain. Tho other two books
contained the marriages, births and
deaths of the inhabitants of the town
