After defendant had learned that
the action had beeu brought, he at
once vacated the property ami re
linquished oil claim to his right to
occupy the same. The plaintiff then
paid costs and withdrew the infor
mation and the case was dismissed.
In the case II. K. Holingrr vs.
John Southworth, a suit on promis
sory note, iudgment for was
I rendered for plaintiff.
Action was brought by Aaron
Crisman vs. LUenbaum for the
recovery of wnges alleged due for
labor performed. It appears that
Mr. Crisman has been employed in
the butcher shop of Mr. Ellenbatini
but the larter claims that he has
fully paid for all labor performed.
The case was continued until Jan.

The twelfth annual convention of
the Y. M. C. A. association is being
held at Lincoln this week. Of it
the Lincoln Call says:
Nearly '2ifJ delegates from all
parts of the state and elsewhere,
arrived and arc in nttendeuce at
the twelfth annual session of the
Young Men's Christian Association
of Nebraska. The many homes of
Lincoln's christian people have
been gladly tendered to these visi
tor nnd a warm congeniality is
milking them all teel at home. The
opening yesterday was held nt the
First liaptist church, and State Sec
retHry Nash gave a very intcrcMlug
Itible study.
The evening session filled the
church and the uudience listened
with pleasure to a descriptive and
entertaining talk on Hihlc study by
Henry U, Hrown, secretary of the
international committee, who en
larged upon the results attained by
a careiui reailing of llie mole con
densed to leading thoiiLrhM. He
had found it xHHille to go over
forty-two books of the ille in
fourteen days and urged students
of the Hible to concentrate on the
leading thoughts and govern their
lives according to tliein.
Epworth L'u(ju Convention.
The Lincoln district Epworth
League semi-annual convention
will be held at Weeping Water,
Nebraska, Friday, Saturday and
Sunday, Nov. Hi, It and 15, ISld.
Delegates expected from every
charge in the district, whether
organised as' Epworth League or
not. Conic for the beginning and
stay to the close. Come praying
for the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
Let every charge that has not
organized, organize before the con
vention and send delegates. Enter
tainment furnished for delegates if
notice is received of their coming
by Rev. T. A. Hull at Weeping
Water, Neb., not later than Monday,
November. 0. He will not be re
sponsible for entertainment unless
so notified, although there are
several hotels in the village which
can accommodate all who come,
and we expect to be able to enter
tain everybody. All who come
with teams must give notice iu ad
vnnce to injure entertainment.

The Misses Miles gave a Hallow
e'en party Saturday evening to their
young friends. A delightful lime
was enjoyed by all.
The vote in a majority of the pre
clncts nnd wards of the county was
very light It Is reported that some
started away from the polls, for
fear they could not make their
tickets out correctly.
J. W. Sperry returned home on
Monday with the stereopticon show
and nitieetim. He spent the sea'
aon in the Mate of Iowa and reports
a fair business. He got homo in
time to vote.
Mr. II. Olmstead was called east
last week to attend his niothcr'i
funeral. It is a sad trip and his
friends sympathize with him in his
affliction. A. G. Street has charge
of the clothing store during his
absence.
The boys either forgot that last
Saturday night was Halloween,
they were so taken up with the en
thusiasm manifested at the repub
lican rally that they thought that
good enough. Marshal Woodnrd
walked the streets until 1 o'clock
looking for some miscreant to or
rest but he found no one, nnd no
depredations were reported.
