The authorities at Nebraska City are determind to wipe out the cases of diphtheria that are prevailing there, if possible. The board of health yesterday visited several portions of the city and found them in a very unhealthy condition. It is thought that if the alleys, slaughter houseu and other places where filth is permitted to accumulate, were completely renovated that there would be little danger of further spread of the disease. Mra. Riley Funk, wife of an M. P. section foreman, at Nebraska City made a desperate attempt to commit suicide yesterday by jumping into the river.
